News broke this morning that Woody Harrelson signed on to join the cast of the new Star Wars young Han Solo solo project.
We couldn't be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody. His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.
Who will Woody Harrelson play in the Han Solo movie? Here are a few possibilities:
Han Solo's dad
Like Mads Mikkelson in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (with a title that is far too long), the announcement re: Harrelson's casting came somewhat after the announcement of the main cast. Does Woody Harrelson look enough like Alden Ehrenreich to play his father?
Chillbacca, more like
Chewbacca is basically a big shag rug, and you know how stoners love their shag rugs. Only joking. But after Joonas Suotamo was cast to be the body double to original (and aging) Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew, we could see a recast of Chewbacca for this film.
Old Han Solo, in a flashforward
Wait, this isn't right. Old Han Solo is most definitely Harrison Ford, and also most definitely dead.
A soon-to-be-named bad guy
This is probably the most likely option. Harrelson could be a swashbuckling space pirate or a bounty hunter out to get Han Solo.
Is the Han Solo movie going to be a crossover featuring characters from Star Trek too? Probably not, but Captain Picard and Woody Harrelson are both bald. So maybe... But I guess if they really wanted Captain Picard they could get Patrick Stewart.
Han Solo's racist droid buddy
Woody Harrelson as a racist droid whom Han Solo abandons in an asteroid belt! I love it.
Surprise! The Han Solo movie is actually a Hunger Games spinoff starring Harrelson as his old character Haymitch.
