Grammarly’s Writing Assistant — My Expectations Versus Reality

Grammarly’s Writing Assistant — My Expectations Versus Reality

Editor’s Note: I recently started a new job — my first job — and it involves lots of writing, from important emails to detailed reports. Because I wanted to feel more confident about my writing, I signed up for Grammarly, a brilliant writing assistant.

My Expectations

I’ve always used Microsoft Word’s spell-check and grammar functions to strengthen my writing. However, when I started my new job I quickly realised it was inadequate. Effective communication is key to getting things done efficiently and accurately. I needed to be more confident about my writing and not spend an entire hour on a single email. Plus, it’s my first big job, so I felt the pressure to succeed.

A friend who’s a writer suggested Grammarly — a free writing assistant that lends a second pair of eyes to proofread while you write.

I highly doubted that it was anything more than an ordinary spelling check. How good can a free service be? And when I noticed that I had to create an account, I was a bit apprehensive.

So I turned to the web for recommendations. I was nicely surprised to find that Grammarly kept popping up with tons of positive five-star reviews, like:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Grammarly helped me tremendously write work emails, business reports and even text messages. I have more confidence in all my writings. Grammarly is one productive tool I cannot live without each day.”

—David L.

Grammarly sounded promising — far better than I initially thought. So I decided to give it a try.

My Experience

Signing up for Grammarly was quick and easy. Now that I’ve set it up in my browser, it automatically corrects any mistakes I make. No matter if it’s in an email, a blog post, or even a Facebook message.

But what thrills me the most is that Grammarlytruly improves my grammar and punctuation. It’s a brilliant writing assistant that works on laptop, desktop, and mobile.

As you write, Grammarly’s constant suggestions help you to find the appropriate tone. It analyses your phrasing and word choice and even allows you to tailor these prompts based on your objectives and audience.

It’s a fantastic tool that will level up your communication skills in sooo many ways! I wish I had had this software when I was in school. It would have saved tons of time and improved my grades. I now use it every day. Honestly, I can’t imagine going back to my pre-Grammarly life.

Soon, I’ll probably upgrade to the Premium version, which comes with clarity-focused sentence rewrites, plagiarism detection, and many more advanced features.

If you’re looking to write more effectively and confidently without spending a penny, I can’t recommend Grammarly enough. Effective writing takes more than good grammar — you’ll see!
