I Tested The #1 Organic Mattress — Here’s My 30-Day Review
I’ve slept on the same mattress for the past 8 years and was in desperate need of an upgrade. So I researched the top choices online, with a laser focus on quality materials, and stumbled upon Avocado. Their mattresses are sustainable, within my budget, and voted “Best Organic Mattress of 2025.”
Even though Avocado’s site has over 40,000 reviews, I still wanted to test it out in person before making such an important commitment. Turns out they have a store only a few blocks from my Brooklyn apartment — super convenient!
First Impressions:
From the moment I stepped into the Avocado store, I knew I was in good hands. It feels kind of like a luxury spa with its calming vibe, soothing music, and tastefully staged rooms.
One of their sleep experts, Kyle, warmly greeted me and offered either cold brew or kombucha on draft. Although their full collection of other furnishings and lifestyle products intrigued me, I had to keep reminding myself that I was there for the mattress.
So I asked to test out their famous Avocado Green Mattress — the one I had been eyeing online.
Kyle showed me the cross-sections of the Firm, Medium, and Plush options, which vary in the amount of organic padding. Plus, I got to actually touch the ethically sourced materials like GOLS-certified organic latex, GOTS-certified organic wool, and cotton. If I’m sleeping on a mattress every night for a third of my life, it’s reassuring to know precisely what it’s made of.

Since I’m a side sleeper, we figured Medium and Plush would provide the best support. I obviously had to test all 3.
And when I laid down on them, it was pure bliss. The mattresses felt naturally cool to the touch, supportive yet soft, and they looked stunning. Each model was shockingly comfortable, but the Medium was perfect. With the relaxing music playing in the background, I almost wanted to take a nap right there.

I love subtle details like the undyed fabric and needle-tufted rosettes that are made from soft, white organic wool. Kyle explained how every mattress is hand-stitched in Los Angeles, which removes the need for chemical adhesives and provides even more comfort and support.
He also informed me about Avocado’s 1-year sleep trial, which allows you to fully test the mattress in your home. Coming in at just over $2,000, I felt like this was a great investment that I didn’t want to sleep on.
Although I was there in person, they even offer 30-minute video sessions to ask questions from live support before you buy. They’ll walk you through all the features and benefits, explain where the natural materials come from, and show you exactly what the product looks and feels like. Thought this was an awesome feature to really ensure against buyer’s remorse.
My Verdict After 1 Month:
The Avocado Box and Medium Green Mattress.
The Avocado Green Mattress shipped right to my door, and I had it unboxed and ready to sleep on that night — no off-putting plastic smell like other boxed mattresses. And sooo comfy — much better than my old one.
And after 30 days of sleeping on it, I’m super happy with my decision. The difference between this and my old coil mattress (made from stuff I can’t even pronounce) is night and day. No more uncomfortable pressure points, and I no longer get woken up by my partner’s movements at night!
I fall asleep faster, my sleep quality is terrific, with a less stiff back, and most importantly, my partner loves it too. Knowing that it’s fully sustainable also gives me total peace of mind. The only downside is that getting out of bed is pretty tough these days because my Avocado Green Mattress is so cozy.
If you want an organic mattress that’s better for your body, eco-friendly, and extremely comfortable, I’d definitely recommend going with Avocado!
