Today, NYC band Native Sun have released their infectious new single “Adam,” the latest preview of their forthcoming debut album Concrete Language, out September 19th via TODO. The LP delivers a raw, forward-driving blend of garage rock, art rock, and punk—eschewing nostalgia in favor of something visceral and immediate.

“‘Adam’ is a song about friendship in a city that never slows down,” says vocalist/guitarist Danny Gomez. “People come and go, but the memories stay. It was inspired by one surreal night riding through New York, chasing something we couldn’t name.”

Recent album singles “No,” “Squash,” and “I Need Nothing” have earned praise from Rolling StoneKCRWFLOODDORKThe Line of Best Fit, and more. As momentum builds, Native Sun continue to cement their place as one of NYC’s most urgent and impressive live acts—recently sharing stages with Geese, Been Stellar, Sunflower Bean, YHWH Nailgun, and Model/Actriz.

This fall, the band will embark on a North American tour supporting Bass Drum of Death, which includes dates at NYC’s Baby’s All Right (10/4) and Washington, D.C’s DC9 (10/8), followed by their live debut and headlining tour of Europe and the UK. Full tour routing is below, you can buy tickets here.

Native Sun have also announced three special hometown NYC shows this summer:

  • August 10th at Tompkins Square Park (presented by CREEM Mag and Showbrain)
  • September 7th at TV Eye (TODO Records showcase)
  • September 25th at Rough Trade NYC (in-store)

“Adam” was produced, mixed, and recorded by Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, Bodega, Snail Mail, The Drums), and mastered by Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, IDLES, Vampire Weekend, Run the Jewels) at Sterling Sound.

“Adam” is out today via TODO. Concrete Language is out September 19th.

Native Sun Bio:

New York City’s Native Sun blends the raw energy of early punk and garage rock with the melodic sensibilities and depth of art rock. Fronted by Colombian-born Danny Gomez (vox/guitar) alongside Justin Barry (bass/vox)Jack Hiltabidle (guitar), and Argentine-born Nicolas Espinosa (drums), Native Sun is celebrated for their visceral, untamed live shows and Gomez’s socially-charged lyrics that confront reality head-on—channeling disillusionment into action and lovingly documenting the lives of society’s misfits and marginalized.

The band has recently gained press and support from notable outlets including Rolling Stone, So Young Magazine, CREEM, Nylon, DORK, BBC, FLOOD, BrooklynVegan, and even Iggy Pop himself.
