Rise Carmine Announces New EP, Drops New Single “Come In Closer”
Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist and psych-rock artist Liam Colbert—better known as Rise Carmine—has officially signed to Paper Bag Records and is announcing his forthcoming EP, set for release later this fall.
A poised and compelling rising talent, Colbert first emerged under the name Patiohawk, gaining early attention with a self-produced album in 2017. In 2022, he reintroduced himself as Rise Carmine with the bold and sonically ambitious No Coup For Anyone, produced by Grammy-winning heavyweight Dave Schiffman (Weezer, PUP, Vampire Weekend). Now, the boundary-pushing and elusive presence is back—ready to carve his name into the modern alternative scene.
Today, Rise Carmine shares his latest single, “Come in Closer”—a fluttering, woozy psychedelic journey that transports listeners to another realm. Sensual, groovy, and completely unique, it’s a track that stands out in today’s musical landscape, embracing both nostalgia and innovation.
Drawing inspiration from early ’90s psych and alt-rock, Colbert is crafting a new age of psychedelia that hasn’t been heard in decades. His music pays homage to past generations while reimagining those sounds for a new audience. Haunting, immersive, and genre being, Rise Carmine’s work pulls listeners in—and doesn’t let go.“Come in Closer” is out August 6th via Paper Bag Records.
PRAISE FOR RISE CARMINE
“Rise Carmine are swinging the doors wide open on the psych-rock scene in a new genreless world. With an unabashedly eclectic sound equally rooted in 90s alternative and new-age psychedelia, Rise Carmine is keen on leaning into genres outside of the rock/alternative sphere. Their sound can best be described as the perfect mix between Tame Impala and Radiohead“
-Silence Sounds
“The concept of groove is paramount to his music, and a thick bass-driven thread connects all of his material. His sound has been described as “all at once nostalgic and fresh”. He takes pride in his eclectic song writing, delivering hard-rock riffiness and psychedelic synth-driven bliss on the same record.“
-Toronto Guardian
“For Colbert, Rise Carmine is a rise to the top in a new direction for his music, his career, and a musical journey into a new stratosphere of sounds and risk-taking. Harnessing his desire to concoct a love letter to the 70s rockers and 90s influences that dominated his affair with music, No Coup for Anyone is just the homage you’ve been waiting for. And it’s for everyone.“
-Cash Box Canada
“Harnessing his desire to pen a love letter to the ’70s rockers and ’90s influences that dominate his sound, No Coup for Anyone just might be the only Can-rock EP you’ll need when it arrives.“
-Tinnitist
“Liam casts a spell with his melodic voice quipped with a hard edge, akin to singer-songwriters like Dallas Green or Frank Turner, whose hard-rock, punk backgrounds provocatively bleed through.”
