The Battle of Slim Wallets – Ekster vs. Ridge

The Battle of Slim Wallets – Ekster vs. Ridge

Nowadays, everything’s about convenience. Even when it comes to wallets. I’ve stuck with the same old wallet for years. But honestly, I’m tired of constantly fumbling at the register to fish out my cards. Lately, I’ve been on the lookout for something slimmer that gives me quicker and easier access.

During my search for the best slim wallet, Ekster and Ridge both caught my attention. At a glance, they share sleek, high-tech designs and provide RFID protection. But after trying both, it’s clear that they have their fair share of differences.

Let’s face it, I bet your wallet is long overdue for an upgrade too. So, here’s my lowdown on both Ekster and Ridge to help you figure out which one is best.

Material and Aesthetic

  • Ridge: Ridge wallets are made from aluminum, titanium, or carbon fiber.
  • Ekster: Ekster wallets are made from handcrafted materials such as premium Italian leather or vegan leather, with aluminum and carbon fiber options too.

P.S. I love the timeless and classic look of Ekster’s leather wallets.

Designs

  • Ridge: While Ridge offers many different patterns and colorway options, all of their wallets maintain the same basic design.
  • Ekster: Ekster has a number of striking models, from their slimParliament Wallet to their Leather BiFold, and their terrific Wallet For AirTag. I went with their Parliament Wallet in Black premium leather.

Solar-Powered Tracking

  • Ridge: Currently does not have a tracker add-on.
  • Ekster: Ekster offers a uniquesolar-powered tracking cardthat ingeniously allows you to find your wallet using Bluetooth technology. I’m extremely prone to misplacing things around the house, so this tracker card is a godsend. It gives me such peace of mind.

Access to Cards

  • Ridge: Ridge wallets have a thumb slot that pushes all your cards out at once. But unlike Ekster’s design, it doesn’t fan them out for individual visibility.
  • Ekster: Ekster’s Parliament wallets and cardholders’ card pop-up feature allows easy access to my cards. With the click of a button, all my cards fan out. No need to fully open the wallet and struggle for the right card anymore!

Price

  • Ridge: Start at $75
  • Ekster: Start at $71. Although both wallets come in at a similar price point, after trying them both, Ekster is by far the better value due to its added features.

Final Thoughts

If your wallet’s long overdue for an upgrade, deciding between Ekster and Ridge boils down to your priorities.

Ridge, with its robust materials and uniform design, might be your go-to for durability. On the other hand, Ekster’s diverse designs, smart features like the solar-powered tracking, and the card-friendly pop-up make it a true standout.

For me, it’sEksterall the way. The premium leather’s timeless look and the added peace of mind that comes with the tracking feature make this the perfect fit. Plus, it fits in my jeans pocket nicely without any bulge!

So, if you’re ready to bid farewell to the fumbling days at the register, go with an Ekster smart wallet.
