How The South Beach Diet Helped Me Stick To My New Years Resolution
I struggle with diets every year. I’ve been looking to lose the same 10-15 pounds for quite some time, and every December 31st I make a promise to do so. However…about halfway through January, I slip up and have trouble getting back in my groove! By February, I’ve lost all progress I made (and maybe even put on a couple extra lbs.).
Last year, I tried keto, which made me feel fantastic, but was way too constricting. I couldn’t eat out anywhere and if I didn’t plan, it’d be peanut butter for dinner, again. I wondered if there was a more flexible keto option, and through researching different blogs, the South Beach Diet kept popping up.
I’d heard of it before, but I didn’t know its menu was based on the ketogenic diet; their whole thing is “keto-friendly,” so you get the results of keto (higher energy, a faster metabolism, etc.), while also eating a slightly wider variety of foods. It sounded perfect!
By ordering food right to my home, I would also be prepared, with tons of snacks, lunch and dinner options, so there’d be no temptation to just eat whatever’s around.
They had multiple plans, so I started with the bestseller. Before I clicked to purchase, I was super nervous. I went back to the blogs, and since people were saying this was the real deal, I finally clicked to buy, still nervous, but excited that this could work for me.
When my first week’s food arrived, it came in a huge white box with a cute blue design. I looked at all the meals and was surprised to see popcorn, pasta, pizza, salted caramel chocolate shakes, and egg scrambles in the mix.
This was keto, but not as strict. All of the carbohydrates in their meal plan were rich in fiber, unlike the pizza I’d normally be snacking on. I also liked that I didn’t have to count carbs, like I did while on keto.
South Beach Dietrecommends you eat 6 times a day, so I wasn’t hungry at all as I went through my day.
I did slip up on a weekend at my parents’ house – but the next morning, I went right back to my South Beach Diet meals! Even if I do indulge or make mistakes, having the majority of my food come from South Beach Diet means I’m getting so many of the benefits of the keto diet, but without the inconvenience. Plus, all of the meals are designed to give you a well-balanced variety of nutrients.
Investing in my body by doing South Beach Diet helped me finally stick to my New Year’s Resolution and I couldn’t be happier.
