The Full Breakdown of the 2020 Candidates' Dance Moves

Because the American people deserve to know

With less than a month left until the Iowa caucuses officially kick off primary season, it seems like we've spent the last decade slowly whittling away at an endless list of candidates.

Many voters have already seen their favorite contenders drop out of the race. Others have yet to figure out which person on a crowded debate stage best represents their interests. Obviously there are a number of axes on which you can compare the candidates, and countless articles that can help you navigate their differing economic policies, their stances on health care, or their various approaches to foreign policy. If those are the factors by which you judge a candidate, you should have no problem finding what you need to make up your mind. People like me are not so lucky.

Obama dancing with Ellen Degeneres

I have always been a single issue voter—consistently casting my ballot for the best dancer. In 2008 and 2012, I had an easy time of it. Barack Obama's blend of smooth and corny dance moves struck a perfect balance for my sensibilities, easily winning out over Mitt Romney's "Gangnam Style" convulsions, or John McCain's high-intensity robot. 2016 presented a more difficult choice. I nearly didn't vote at all, but ultimately decided that Hillary Clinton's stiff Whip and Nae Nae represented the lesser of two evils when considered against Donald Trump's apocalyptic rendition of "Hotline Bling."

Trump dance SNL SNL

Sadly, some 60 million voters didn't see what I did, and made the wrong call. I won't let that happen again. The American people deserve to see every candidate dance before they go to the polls. Until the DNC finally listens to wisdom and converts one of their debates to a dance off, I've compiled this list so that you can make an informed decision.

Elizabeth Warren

We'll get the top-tier candidates out of the way first. Senator Elizabeth Warren has nothing to hide. She has been the most upfront, transparent candidate when it comes to her big, structural dancing. And while it may not be everyone's first choice in style, you can not fault her fun-aunt-at-a-wedding energy. The latest example of her eclectic blend of fist pumping and hula dancing comes from last night's Brooklyn rally with—recent dropout and competent dancer in his own right—Julian Castro. She probably just needs a couple more glasses of zinfendel from the open bar before she really loosens up.

Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders is surprisingly spry. You might not expect a man in his 70s with heart problems to cut a rug, but Bernie is not your average senior citizen. He has the energy of a man half his age, and the timeless consistency of his dancing allows him to keep up with his young supporters.

Joe Biden

Former vice president Joe Biden dances exactly as you'd expect—slow, old fashioned, and "sweet" in a way that's uncomfortably intimate.

Andrew Yang

Silicon Valley entrepreneur Andrew Yang has more than enough spring in his step to keep up with any roomful of middle-aged women on the dance floor. His universal basic dance moves aim to remind us that we all share one dance floor.

Tulsi Gabbard

Congressional representative for Hawaii Tulsi Gabbard doesn't exactly dance—she dance-fights. Just as with her approach to debates or to the war on terror, her Capoeira moves may be a bit more aggressive than some voters want.

Amy Klobuchar

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar is known for her no-nonsense pragmatism. She strives not to make any promises she can't keep, so she will appear to be the adult in the room...but her dancing tells a different story. Klobuchar dances with the energy of a happy toddler who could enter full-blown tantrum mode at any moment.

Marianne Williamson

Marianne dancing

You may be surprised to find that spiritual guru Marianne Williamson is still in the race, but once you see her dance moves, you'll be surprised she isn't the front runner. She is as one with the music as she is with the vibrations of the universe.

These Famous Stars Hate Their Own Music

Jimmy Page isn't the only one who found his old songs cringe-worthy.

Legendary rocker Jimmy Page has had a lot to say over the years regarding Led Zeppelin's smash hit "Stairway to Heaven."

In 1988, the rocker told The New York Times that he'd "break out in hives" if he had to perform the song. Page has calmed down since then, but still confirmed to UCR yesterday that he simply "couldn't relate to the track anymore."

Popdust's Spooktacular Halloween Playlist

Are you tasked with hosting a Halloween party this year? Let us help you with the music.

Howl you doing boys and girls? What's up, my witches?

Spooky season is drawing nearer, and with Halloween falling on a Thursday this year, it means that there is only one weekend to curate a spooktacular party playlist, and one opportunity to throw a fa-boo-lous Halloween party. It is no easy task, but if you want your guests to shake their BOOty, eat, drink, and be scary all night long, Popdust has just the playlist that will give your friends pumpkin' to talk about.

Itsy Bitsy Spider by Carly Simon

Have you ever heard such an elegant and moving interpretation of this spooky nursery rhyme? In this version, I wasn't rooting for the rain to "wash the spider out"; instead, Simon's mash up of the nursery rhyme with her hit "Comin Around Again" paints a darker picture. "I know nothing stays the same, but if you're willing to play the game, it's coming around again," Simon sings. The Spider's journey is a complex one: He is tenacious in his dream of scaling the water spout and is an inspiration to us all. "Nothing stays the same," little Spider, keep climbing. One day, you may just turn your dream into a reality. It's a reminder of our mortality and serves as the perfect song to kick off the night as your guests eat hors d'oeuvres and pour their first cup of spiked punch.

Engaged! Lady Gaga to Wed Agent Christian Carino

Gaga shared the news on Monday at Elle's 25th Annual Women in Hollywood celebration.

Her movie A Star is Born is taking the box office by storm, and a Las Vegas residency is on the agenda come December.

Lady Gaga's good fortune keeps pouring in. The 32-year-old recently let the world know that she's engaged to her talent agent, Christian Carino.

US Weekly

They may have been engaged since summer 2017. Us Weekly reports, "The Grammy-winning singer and the CAA talent agent secretly got engaged over the summer after Carino asked the singer's father for his permission." Gaga has been openly sporting a stunning purple-pink diamond ring on her finger, but until Monday's Elle event, she never officially confirmed the engagement.

Gaga spoke at Monday's celebration, thanking those in her life who've supported her both personally and professionally. "Thank you to all the loved ones in my life. [Manager] Bobby [Campbell], I love you. Everyone at table five. My fiancé, Christian. All the loved ones in my life who take care of me every day. And Ryan Murphy, thanks for giving me my first leading role."

Gaga was previously engaged to actor Taylor Kinney, but they went their separate ways in 2016. By 2017, Gaga was linked to Carino, a 49-year-old Creative Artists Agency (CAA) agent who not only represents his fiancé, but has a roster of former A-list clients including Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Lopez, and Christina Aguilera. He was married once before and has two daughters, who now can argue that they're getting the coolest step-mom in the world.

Now that the cat's out of the bag, the couple can be open about their engagement, which is sure to lead to further speculation as to the details of when and where they'll get hitched. Gaga never fails to surprise us, so we can expect something spectacular. For now, Gaga can swim in the success of A Star is Born and put to rest any rumors that her on-screen chemistry with co-star Bradley Cooper was art imitating life.

Lady Gaga and Prince William speak up about mental health

A conversation to offer support to those who suffer with mental illness

Royalty works together to overcome the stigma of mental illness

The Lady and Prince have picked up where the Princess left off. Carrie Fischer, often recognized as the actress who played Princess Leia in Star Wars, had been perhaps one of the most fiercely dedicatied advocate for mental health issues. She died, at age 60, last year. It was felt by many that had benefited from her inspiring message. She was treating Bi Polar disorder, often referred to as manic depression. Drug addiction, manic episodes and hospitalization were just some of the personal experiences she had conveyed. Her intention was to let people know that others were going through the same thing. She gave inspiration to so many.

"I am mentally ill. I can say that. I am not ashamed of that. I survived that, I'm still surviving it, but bring it on," Fisher told ABC News.

Lady Gaga and Prince William are following Fischer's example. They are seen having a conversation that is a difficult subject to talk about. Admitting to everyone that they have been dealing with mental heath disorders must not be easy. Considering that these public figures are constantly scrutinized by the public eye, Gaga and William have come out and are offering support to those who are still struggling without any help. Some of these people are scared to ask for help for the fear of being judged. This could have fatal results as some will resort to hurting them selves before coming forward to a family member.

This morning there was a video released of them having a FaceTime chat discussing their personal experiences how mental illness has impacted their lives. This is part of the Heads Together #oktosay series, a campaign set up by the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, encouraging those who suffer to open up about it. Many people have felt insecure about mentioning because they fear this problem labels them as "crazy." The truth of the matter is there are so many people that go undiagnosed and never get the treatment that could dramatically improve the quality of their lives.

Two years ago, Lady Gaga nervously first spoke publicly about dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of being raped when she was 19. "For me, waking up every day and feeling sad and going on stage is something that is very hard to describe." she said, "There is a lot of shame attached to mental illness, you feel like something's wrong with you." In December she posted an open letter that speaks frankly about her struggle.

"I also experience something called dissociation which means that my mind doesn't want to relive the pain so "I look off and I stare" in a glazed over state. As my doctors have taught me, I cannot express my feelings because my pre-frontal cortex (the part of the brain that controls logical, orderly thought) is overridden by the amygdala (which stores emotional memory) and sends me into a fight or flight response. My body is in one place and my mind in another. It's like the panic accelerator in my mind gets stuck and I am paralyzed with fear."

Lady Gaga continues,"I am doing various modalities of psychotherapy and am on medicine prescribed by my psychiatrist. However, I believe that the most inexpensive and perhaps the best medicine in the world is words. Kind words…positive words…words that help people who feel ashamed of an invisible illness to overcome their shame and feel free."

Prince William and Prince Harry have both admitted to seeking treatment for Depression after the death of their mother, Prince Diana, in 1997. Harry stated that he had surpassed these feelings for his mother's passing, even 20 years afterwards. The Duke of Cambridge wants his children to be able to talk about their emotions. William says the "stiff upper lip" culture in the UK is something that needs to stop.

"It's time that everyone speaks up and really feels very normal about mental health, it's the same as physical health. Everybody has mental health and we shouldn't be ashamed of it and just having a conversation with a friend or family member can really make such a difference."

"It's OK to have this conversation, it's really important to have this conversation and that you won't be judged." William also stated.

"It's so important to break open that fear and that taboo which is only going to lead to more problems down the line."

Prince William had also made plans for them to get together when Lady Gaga comes to the UK in October. This is promising to all those that secretly endure mental illness without assistance. Hopefully this succeeds in making it easier to seek out the proper treatment. The new Lady Gaga single, The Cure, makes sense considering the dialog.
