Met Gala Glam | Fashion in Full Force, plus Top Photos of Celebrities that Dressed to Impress

Top Photos of Celebrities that Dressed to Impress at this Star-studded Spectacular

Last night, stars were out for the year's biggest night of flashy fashion – the Met Gala 2018.

NYC's Metropolitan Museum of Art was the venue to see and be seen as some of Hollywood's biggest players paraded around in their over-the-top designer gowns and getups. The gala's theme, "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination," brought both intrigue and controversy, two things celebs never seem to shy away from.

The invite-only spectacular which raises money for the museum was graciously hosted by Vogue's Anna Wintour, Rihanna, Donatella Versace, and Amal Clooney. Now you have your go-to answer to, "If you could invite any group of people to dinner, who would you choose?"

The stars who walked the red carpet and made their way into the Met rocked their frocks with grace and glamour, channeling the event's unusual theme with their unique twists. From Katy Perry to Kim Kardashian West to Bella Hadid to Blake Lively to Sarah Jessica Parker and a rich roster of more A-listers we love, the Met was the hottest spot in town for the stars to shine in all their glory.

The celeb's love for fashion was evident, but for one attendee, rapper 2 Chainz, his devotion to his girlfriend, Kesha Ward trumped the tuxes and tiaras. He hit the red carpet and his knee hit the ground as he asked for her hand in marriage. She said yes, giving her already fabulous Met Gala look added "bling" with a shiny new diamond ring to flaunt.

We may never get an invite to this star-studded event, but we can at least admire the fashion.

Rihanna rocked it

It's hard to imagine a time when the name Sarah Jessica Parker came up and the first thing that came to mind wasn't "Carrie Bradshaw."

Sex and the City will go down in history as one of the best NYC-based series ever created, and thanks to the part played by SJP, any modern gal knows whether or not she's a "Carrie."

Sure, all turned out splendid for Carrie—she became a published author, her friendships stayed tight year after year, and of course, she finally got hitched to "Mr. Big."

And as we know, SJP's real life ain't all too shabby either. She lives luxuriously in Manhattan with her actor hubby Matthew Broderick, and hangs with A-list pals including reality TV host with the most, Andy Cohen.

But before fame and fortune, Sarah was a girl from a large family of modest means trying to make her way into the spotlight. As we know, Sarah succeeded, but not without struggle. Here's a taste of SJP pre-fame, and why you'll be rooting for our fave sex columnist even more once you're done reading.

According to Biography, Sarah grew up in "relative poverty" as the fourth of eight (take that Kate Gosslin) siblings. Her talents blossomed early, either due to need or desire, and Sarah helped the family monetarily by performing in dancing and singing gigs in the community of Nelsonville, Ohio. Just like Honey Boo Boo… kinda.

Despite the family's hardships, the family moved to Cincinnati where Sarah took singing, theater, and ballet classes, as per The Muse, and was cast in the Broadway revival of William Archibald's The Innocents, as per Wikipedia, after she and four of her siblings appeared in a production of The Sound of Music in Missouri.

In 1979, Sarah landed a dream-come-true role for a young girl as the star of Annie on Broadway in Manhattan until 1980, as per Biography, and before long, she landed a gig in Footloose, according to Viralscape, in the role of "Rusty."

Soon SJP made it to the small screen as a total geek in her role on the TV show, Square Pegs, according to Biography. Her geekiness was a far cry from the Carrie Bradshaw she'd portray in decades to come!

From there, movie roles and more TV gigs took Sarah to the next level in her career, eventually landing her the iconic SATC role and many more since.

From rags to riches, this leading lady was a born star!

Sarah Jessica Parker is the face and the butt of relaunched 70's brand Jordache, so if you've been dying to see SJP's booty in your face, this is your moment!

These are Not Your Daughter's Jeans, they are your grandma's.

While SJP gives it all she's got in the ad campaign. it's hard to imagine a market for these jeans, with so many other brands already out there at every price point. The range is available online, from $89 to $149.

A quick look at the Jordache look-book reveals that the jeans are modeled by a young model who looks like a 70s hooker, with the word 'Heritage' replacing 'dated' to describe the brand.

And for Walmart enthusiasts, a cheaper line will hit the stores in mid-July.

I don't know. Now I'm depressed. Carrie Bradshaw shouldn't be selling $17 jeans at Walmart. Is nothing sacred??

Are you going on vacation this year?

What do you wear to travel long haul?

Jeans? Sweats? Or a full on stylist put together outfit complete with sky rocket heels? (No prizes for guessing which of these three the Kardashian Klan opt for).

Some celebrity travel attire has to be seen to be believed. Now obviously they don’t fly coach so have all the room they need to change mid air, but even so—could you squeeze your feet back into a pair of tiny stilettos after a 12 hour flight?

The theme of the Met Ball Gala 2015 was China: Through The Looking Glass and the celebrities certainly took the opportunity to embrace the theme and get their gladrags on.

It's a bit of a shame then that some of them didn't actually use a looking glass to check their outfit before they set off...

Coco Chanel once famously said;

"Once you've dressed, and before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take at least one thing off."

We think that some of the celebs could have done well to heed this advice, whilst others could have done with doing the opposite—putting one thing on, like UNDERWEAR!

Rihanna looked like she was vying for title of Most Important Princess (which given the Royal event over the weekend she had no chance of)  but actually looked like Big Bird on steroids and both Beyonce and Kim Kardashian misread the theme and thought it was China: The Emperors No Clothes.

Sarah Jessica Parker wore a headdress that doubled her height and quite frankly we wish Miley Cyrus had been wearing a headdress to cover up her blue hair do.

Krown for the most Kalamitous Kardashian Kostume must surely go to Kris Jenner—she was dressed in a bizarre '80's throwback number and to our mind looked faintly embarrassed.

Lady Gaga looked as odd as ever, but we would be disappointed with anything less and Solange Knowles seemed ready to take cover behind her dress in case of a repeat of the lift incident of last year.

There was a lot of gold (beautifully worn by Kate Beckinsale), a lot of red and pattern as would be expected given the theme and there were definitely some resounding hits.

Model of the moment Gigi Hadid looked stunning, Amal Clooney looked as elegant as ever (she accessorized her red ruffles with an adoring husband), and Elizabeth Banks look fierce and ready for round 2 of her ding dong with Tara Reid.
