Unsurprisingly, Americans have been snacking more with recent lockdowns and being stuck at home.

A long-time popular snack in America is popcorn, and the new popcorn on the block is like no other we have tried before: Opopop. This brand is so different from the usual bags of microwave popcorn you'd see in your local grocery store. Their Flavor Wrapped™ Popcorn Kernels are shaking up taste buds and putting Opopop in a league of its own.

After hearing some of the flavors, our editors were very curious about Opopop, so we tried it out. Here is how our Opopop experience went:

Opopop
Flavor Wrapped Popcorn
Gluten-Free & Non-GMO

We ordered the Opopop Discovery Kit which includes their dishwasher-safe, BPA-free silicone bright-yellow popper and lid, and a family-sized serving pouch of each of their flavors: Vanilla Cake Pop, Cinnalicious, Maui Heat, Chedapeño, Fancy Butter, and Salty Umami. It even includes a Test Launch pouch of their Flavor Wrapped™ Popcorn Kernels so you can get your microwave's timing right before you try their other flavors.

It's safe to say we have never tried popcorn with these flavors before, some of them sounded kinda crazy, but we were sick of the over-buttered and boring salted popcorn we were used to. Not to mention, Opopop is gluten-free and non-GMO.

It was packaged so neatly and we were curious when we noticed that it included ice packs, which apparently makes sure the kernels don't melt during shipping (similar to chocolate). Each kernel is pre-covered in flavored seasoning, so the flavor is fresh and evenly distributed once it's popped. We also realized we'd never seen unpopped flavored kernels before! They're usually hidden inside the bag, but it was really fun to see the colored kernels, pre-popping.

To make the popcorn, just pour the kernels into the popper and microwave it! We were dying to try Vanilla Cake Pop, so that was up first, and it was really yummy! The whole kitchen smelled like a bakery. (Side note: Opopop sells scented candles of their popcorn flavors!)

Sweet without tasting synthetic and a great way to curb a sweet tooth. We were able to eat it straight out of the popper and simply put it in the dishwasher after.

The next flavor we tried was Maui Heat. If you like spicy food, you'll love this. It was hot but still had a sweet taste to it - fruity pineapple, spicy paprika and cayenne makes for an unexpectedly perfect mix. Not a combo you would expect to be delicious, but it is.

Next up, Cinnalicious, which according to the packet, should be eaten in the AM. It tastes exactly like a sweet cinnamon roll, so why not have it for breakfast? Our favorite flavor is probably the Chedapeño - a mix of cheese and jalapeño makes for another delicious spicy flavor.

Their Fancy Butter and Salted Umami both have just the right amount of butter or salt. The Salted Umami was far from the blandly salted popcorn we got before, without being too salty. And true to the words on the packaging, we couldn't stop eating it and we're not sure why.

After our editors taste-sampled every Opopop flavor, it's safe to say that our view on microwavable popcorn has changed from a dull snack to an exciting treat. Opopop truly are shaking up the industry, and we'll definitely be subscribing to get our Opopop delivered regularly and save 10%!

You can get your Opopop Discovery Kit with a microwave popper, a Test Launch pouch of their Lightly Salted flavor, and every other flavor for just $40. They also have Choose Your Own Adventure packs where you can choose 3 flavors and get 6 family-size servings of each flavor. Check it out, you won't regret it!
