They Might Be Giants have contributed to pop culture for more than 40 years. They’ve composed a famous TV theme song, scored a segment on Tiny Tune Adventures, worked on national ad campaigns, made kids music, and recorded alternative rock hits.

They’ve done all this without selling out arenas. In a way, John Flansburgh and John Linnell have enjoyed the perfect indie music career—beloved, respected, and successful, but never too famous to walk down the street.

To mark the release of the new album, The World Is to Dig, Linnell talks about the history of the band and their current live shows. This is the story of They Might Be Giants.
