Is Opopop Really That Good?
For weekend movie nights, nothing beats a bowl of popcorn. Easily snackable, bursting with flavor, it’s my absolute favorite.
So when I saw an ad for popcorn that was over 30 bucks, I laughed my butt off. Why?! Ready to send the link to all my friends to laugh at it, I took a look.
It was a brand called Opopop and for $39, you’d get your own unique microwave popper along with 6 pouches of flavored popcorn.
I had to admit, the flavors did sound pretty good.There was a combination of sweet and salty flavors that were making my mouth water.
To make myself feel better, I did some mental math. It was definitely cheaper than the popcorn at my local movie theater and only slightly more expensive than other microwave popcorn. It comes out to $2.50 per pouch (since the popper retails at $25) and each pouch contains about 9 cups of popped popcorn (enough to fill up the large popper).
The pictures did look delicious. So, as a treat, I ordered the Discovery Kit.

I don’t know what it is, but this is the most flavorful popcorn I’ve ever had. It might be the Flavor Wrapped™ technology, which evenly coats every popcorn kernel with flavor.
They offer 6 amazing flavors; Vanilla Cake Pop, Fancy Butter, Cinnalicious, Maui Heat, Salted Umami, and Chedapeno. I’d never seen some of these flavors anywhere else before!

This is the first time a brand has done something new with microwave popcorn since the 1970’s! It’s about time.
Okay, the truth? The popper is fabulous. After my test run, I figured out my perfect microwave time and there were maybe a half dozen unpopped kernels at the bottom (they say you should expect around 12) and nothing burned. You really get everything out of each packet.
Also…this is way better than regular microwave popcorn. I hate to say it, but it’s true! It’s bursting with flavor, but isn’t wet and doesn’t feel as greasy as some popcorn does. My roommate and I ate the entire bowl of Cinnalicious during one episode of tv. At only about 140 calories a serving, it’s not too high in calories and pretty filling!
Opopop is completely worth it. The popper is an amazing invention and I want to marry whoever comes up with their flavor combinations. I loved every flavor; Vanilla Cake Pop tasted like a birthday party, Salty Umami was super addicting, and the Chedapeno was so satisfying with its spicy and cheesy flavors… time to pop another bowl!
