TRAVIS JAPAN have spent more than a decade crafting a universe that feels entirely, unmistakably theirs. The seven-member Tokyo-based pop and dance group – famous for their razor-sharp choreography, infectious personalities, and joyful mix of modern, jazz, and hip-hop movement – have risen from local favorites to a global phenomenon with serious sparkle. Formed in 2012 under the guidance of legendary choreographer Travis Payne, the group grew up on tour buses, rehearsal studios, and arena stages, eventually catching worldwide attention with standout moments on World of Dance and America’s Got Talent. Those performances didn’t just introduce them to global audiences – they showed everyone just how fun and charismatic this group really is.

Their artistic journey came into focus with their debut album Road To A, a project about finding and celebrating their truest selves, followed by their 2024 sophomore album VIIsual, which leaned into bolder, brighter, and more stylized pop experimentation. Pair that with a streak of hit singles and multiple sold-out world tours, and it’s easy to see how Travis Japan became one of J-pop’s buzziest international acts. And because they’re true multi-hyphenates, all seven members have built growing acting careers and contributed theme songs to major Japanese films, TV series, and anime projects – expanding their presence far beyond the stage.

Now, with the release of ’s travelers (out today via Universal Music Japan / Capitol Records), Travis Japan level up once again. Produced by member Machu (Kaito Matsukura), the album is built around a whimsical strawberry-shaped spaceship – a sweet nod to member Shime’s favorite fruit – that sets the tone for a nostalgic, time-hopping adventure. Sonically, the record skips through decades with the group’s signature brightness, reimagining glittery ’70s disco, dreamy ’90s R&B, early-2000s hip-hop attitude, and neon-lit ’80s city pop, all wrapped in their playful, high-energy style. It might be their most charming and cohesive work yet, a time-traveling pop scrapbook that feels both nostalgic and totally fresh.

To celebrate the album, the group dropped a new music video for “Welcome To Our Show Tonight,” an old-Hollywood-inspired burst of glam that puts the members in classic suits and drops them into a theatrical world of swinging jazz, brass flourishes, and polished choreography. It’s cheeky, charming, and totally Travis Japan – a little retro, a little cinematic, and full of personality.

The album also lands during a huge moment for the group. Travis Japan recently announced their new Disney+ docuseries, Travis Japan: Summer Vacation!! In The USA, filmed across ten days in iconic locations like Arches National Park, Durango, Monument Valley, and Sedona. At Disney’s APAC Showcase in Hong Kong, members Genta and Umi – who have lent their voices to the Japanese-language versions of Mufasa: The Lion King and live action Lilo & Stitch respectively – shared the news and explained, “People always wonder how we’re so close, but I hope they can see that in the show.”

With ’s travelers, Travis Japan tap into nostalgia while boldly expanding their creative universe. The result is a vibrant, cinematic, joy-filled record that pulls fans into their world and further cements them as one of the most exciting pop groups bringing J-pop to international audiences – all with heart, humor, and a whole lot of charm.
