Is PXG Worth it?

Golf season is in full swing, which means your clubs need to be up to par. If you’re still using older clubs, your distance and accuracy are probably suffering.

So, where’s the best place to get new clubs that can actually help you shoot lower scores?

PXG is a leader in the golf equipment space with its innovative club tech and next-level fittings. But with so many golf brands out there, what sets PXG apart from the rest?

Two golfers tested out PXG’s fitting experience, and here’s how it went:

Review Of PXG Clubs By Jerry, A Mid-Handicapper

Jerry: I’ve been playing golf on and off for 12 years now, but I’d still consider myself a “weekend hack.” I really want to break 90 this season, and the YouTube tutorials I’ve been watching can only get me so far.

My swing is solid, but my iron shots are inconsistent, and my driver distance really holds me back on longer holes. I decided to give a PXG in-store fitting a try to see if my clubs were really the problem.

After analyzing my current setup, PXG’s master fitter had me test various clubhead and shaft combinations. Trackman technology allowed me to see every precise statistic, like ball speed, club speed, attack angle, spin rate, club path, and, my personal favorite,  smash factor (a measure of energy transfer between club to ball).

We settled on PXG Black Ops Irons and Driver, which felt like absolute weapons in my hands. With a more flexible shaft and personalized clubhead weighting, I gained 15 yards of distance and tighter dispersion on nearly every shot. We transformed my banana ball slice into a buttery fade with which I could actually use to find fairways. Upgrading to these clubs was a no-brainer.

Ashley: As a college golfer, I’m always on the lookout for ways to improve my game. Last season, I had one of the lowest average driving distances on my team — something I desperately want to improve.

After trying my teammate’s PXG driver, I loved the look and feel. I booked a mobile fitting at my local range to see if PXG was right for my swing.

I started my session by hitting my current driver, and then we tried several different PXG models. Their master fitter was confident he could add some serious distance with a customized set-up, but I was still a bit skeptical.

After swinging their new Women’s Wildcat Driver, I gained almost 20 yards of distance! We tuned it to support a tight draw shot shape, which made a huge difference. And yes, the swing speed was the same, the results were night and day. I was shocked by the level of customization and precision PXG offers compared to past fittings I’ve done.

While I was there, I had to test out their hybrids and woods (otherwise I’d have a 60-yard gap in my bag.) These felt absolutely pure and made me wish I had gotten fitted way sooner.

Is PXG Worth it?

Jerry: Fast forward a few weeks, and I’m loving my brand-new set of PXG clubs! Everything just feels right in my hands. My irons are crisp, my drives are bombing down the fairway, and my confidence is at an all-time high.

I haven’t broken 90 just yet, but I shot a 92 (my best score yet) last round, and I can taste it. I thought PXG was just for the pros, but I feel like a whole new golfer after my in-store fitting.

Ashley: I was thoroughly impressed by the PXG fitting and anxious to try out my new driver on the course. When I played a round with some teammates, they couldn’t believe I was outdriving them on most holes.

I didn’t think a club upgrade would help that much, but the numbers don’t lie. Not only am I hitting it significantly longer, but also way more accurately. Driving used to be a weak point in my game, but now I’m excited every time I tee it up. I can’t wait to crush it next season with these clubs!

I’d highly recommend a PXG fitting to any golfer trying to level up their game!
