Football Sundays are about to return after a long summer away. Soon the NFL will be back on our screens, and it’s set to be another exciting season, taking us all the way to the Super Bowl in February.

Many fans use the NFL as an opportunity to bet, but in recent years, the emergence of prediction markets has blown that wide open. Now, instead of sports betting, which isn’t legal in all of the US, fans can trade contracts over prediction for NFL games, NFL futures, individual awards, and anything else.

Prediction markets are not just a way to have fun with the NFL, it’s also a surprisingly accurate way to predict outcomes. Let’s see what the prediction markets say will happen this NFL season, including the award winners, the favourites, and its pick for Super Bowl winners.

The favourites, according to traders

Prediction markets operate differently to sports betting. The ‘odds’ are instead determined by the value of the contracts, which in turn are determined by how many traders chose to favour which outcome. For example, if a user thinks the LA Rams will win the Super Bowl, they trade ‘yes’ on LA Rams, buying a contract which will pay out to $1 if successful.

Prediction markets do indeed favour the Rams as the number 1 favourite for the 2027 Super Bowl, odds that were buoyed by the capture of Myles Garratt in the summer. They currently have a 15% chance according to prediction market traders. This is a great market to get started with, especially if you’ve never used prediction markets, and you can claim a Kalshi promo code to help you along.

They’re followed by the Buffalo Bills, with their chances at 8%, the Seattle Seahawks, the defending Super Bowl champions, at 7%, and the Baltimore Ravens also at 7%. Plenty of other teams are also in the running with around a 5% chance, including the Bengals, Cowboys, Broncos and Texans.

Who will win the individual awards?

Another one of the best markets to get into prediction markets with is the race for individual awards. It’s another market that is notoriously hard to predict, but prediction markets offer a consensus on who the favourites are, and where people are putting their money.

For the MVP, the favourite is, by the narrowest of margins, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, trading at 11%. He’ll be hoping for a better year after a rough playoffs exit last year. The chasing pack behind him is tight, with Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow all on around 10%.

Elsewhere, Jahmyr Gibbons is favorite for Offensive Player of the Year at 16%, while Myles Garratt is favorite to capture another DPOY award. For the rookies, Jeremiyah Love is unsurprisingly the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, while Rueben Bain Jr. has a firm grip of prediction market users for Defensive Rookie of the Year with 25%.
