Why I Finally Subscribed To Juggernaut
At this point, I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s tired of clickbait-y headlines, fake news, and misrepresentation in mainstream media. It got to a point where I stopped reading several publications because I just didn’t want to keep seeing untrustworthy or biased news covering the same few people.
A few weeks later, a cousin of mine told me about this new online publication he had stumbled upon called The Juggernaut.
The publication started as a free newsletter, highlighting the stories of South Asian people around the world and giving South Asians a platform to share their stories.
The Juggernaut has published over 700 stories that cover various subjects and topics. After a bit of searching, I was delighted to discover that they cover everything from culture, politics, and history to business and tech.
Still, I wasn’t sure. Could there really be a space for authentic South Asian stories? was the thought that kept coming back to me.
However, I did appreciate that The Juggernaut was very transparent about its pricing, and with subscription prices starting at $1.40 a week — less than a ride on the metro — I figured I had nothing to lose!
The Juggernaut offers student, lifetime, annual, and monthly subscription plans. I went with the annual plan, which includes ad-free reading and access to exclusive offline Juggernaut events, such as Q&As with speakers like Amitav Ghosh and Indra Nooyi.
All I can say is that I’m glad I subscribed.
Not only did The Juggernaut help me get back into the habit of reading every day, but I was reading real stories, about real people, not just the usual suspects. My first week subscribing to The Juggernaut was refreshing, to say the least.
Three standout articles were The Rise of Sexy Asians on Screen, The Business of Brown Beauty, and The Jews of India.
I loved finding out that The Juggernaut was extremely inclusive and welcoming. No matter your background, there’s a Juggernaut story that captivates, informs, and entertains! I even found myself recommending The Juggernaut to friends and coworkers who had always been curious about South Asian culture but weren’t from the region.
In a world full of misconceptions, misunderstandings, and flat-out fake news, The Juggernaut is a trustworthy news source for all things South Asia — think India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Maldives, Bhutan, Afghanistan.
If you’re looking for news that highlights South Asia and the voices of South Asians, then it’s time you subscribed to The Juggernaut.
