Born in Mumbai and now based in San Francisco, 25 year old breakout electronic producer Tej has spent the past year building momentum—through late nights in studios, long stretches away from home, and a growing catalog of emotionally charged bass music. That tension—between where he’s from and where he’s going—sits at the core of his debut EP, HEY ME, IT’S ME, out now via San Holo’s bitbird imprint.

The project arrives after a breakthrough run that started organically: a glitchy edit of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites” caught fire online, racking up hundreds of thousands of views. From there, his originals found support across Spotify, Beatport, and YouTube editorial playlists

Rather than chasing algorithms, HEY ME, IT’S ME hovers around reflection. Across the EP, Tej wrestles with memory, distance, family, and the emotional whiplash of growing up—using bass-heavy drops, melodic release, and vocal fragments to express these themes.

A MOMENT I REMEMBER,” captures that feeling best. It’s warm and weightless, built on chill melodies and playful basslines, yet rooted in nostalgia. Elsewhere on the EP, tracks like “YOU DON’T KNOW ME,” the title track, and “ALL I CAN DO (time)” evolve constantly, never repeating the same idea twice. The result feels less like a collection of singles and more like flipping through memories: fragmented, emotional, and deeply human.

Tej is also taking the EP on the road this winter supporting Nikita, the Wicked across cities like Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, and Brooklyn. Tickets can be purchased here

“HEY ME, IT’S ME is a personal check-in shaped by the chaos of living — the overlap of pain, joy, love, stress, and heartbreak that constantly runs through my head. The EP is a colorful project in every sense — vibrant sounds, emotional chords, and expressive textures that reflect the full spectrum of what I’ve felt. Music has been one of the most human ways for me to dig into those feelings and release them into the world, which is why vocal chops and hyperpop-influenced elements are a consistent theme throughout — the human voice being the most powerful tool we have for expressing emotion. The result is an EP that feels honest, energetic, and unique, balancing introspection with release.” – Tej.
