The Harry Potter franchise is a global sensation, especially for millennials. But Harry Potter’s magic captivates people of all ages. We’re thrilled to see the magic of Harry Potter continue on Broadway, but this new version of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child offers a fresh take on the beloved story.

Unlike the original two-part production from 2018, this condensed adaptation has a running time of under-three-hour play. Set 19 years after the events of the books, it still follows Harry and his family, but the revised structure is more accessible, in terms of time and cost. With only one part instead of two, ticket prices are lower, making it easier for a wider audience to experience the magic.

Generally, Broadway shows cast different actors than those who appear in the feature film. But, you’ll be pleased to know that Tom Felton is set to reprise the role of Draco Malfoy – the bully we all wanted to punch in the face.

Here are all the details:

Tom Felton Will Play Draco Malfoy on Broadway

From November 11th through March 22nd, you can catch Tom reviving Draco in Broadway’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – tickets are available for now.

Ticket prices range from $79.49 to $362, depending on the seat location, including options for the orchestra and balcony. At this point Aaron Bartz is tackling the role of Draco, but Tom will assume the role for five months between this coming Fall and Spring 2026.

If you’re curious how Tom feels making his Broadway debut, he’s pretty stoked. According to Variety, he said, “Here I am in New York — and I have not seen anything bring the world together more than ‘Potter.’”

Tom’s building stamina for the role with physical training and voicework, while fine-tuning his acting to master live theater — where sustaining a 3-hour performance differs from film acting, which is shot in fits and starts on a soundstage.

Millions of visitors travel to Universal Studios annually, and a huge chunk of them are there specifically to see Harry Potter World in real life.

There’s a reason the eight movies combined have grossed more than $9.5 billion at the box office.

However, the exciting news about Tom’s role reprisal is getting hit with some unfortunate drama.

The LGBTQ Community Is Not Happy With Tom Felton

We’re smack-dab in the middle of Pride Month, which is supposed to be a time that honors the LGBTQ+ community. Tom recently spoke about J.K. Rowling’s transphobic history, his response left much to be desired.

When asked if Rowling’s views on gender identity affect his work in the Harry Potter franchise. He responded, “No, I can’t say it does. I’m not really that attuned…”

Fans have slammed him for not being better “attuned,” claiming his statement came from a place of privilege and disinterest about difficulties the LGBTQ+ community faces every day.

Tom’s facing backlash from fans, but it’s unclear if he’ll respond before his Broadway debut in November.

As of this publication, no other stars from the Harry Potter franchise will come to this Broadway production.

Daniel Radcliffe, who played the titular role, has made it abundantly clear that he’ll never play Harry again. Apparently, he’s over it. According to The Wrap, he’s eager to distance himself from the childlike persona.

When Emma Watson was asked if she’d ever reprise the role of Hermione Granger, she told a SiriusXM interviewer via Heroic Hollywood, “Definitely nothing planned at the moment. I wouldn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up… ask me in another 10 [years].”

ITV’s This Morning asked Rupert Grant if he’ll play Ron Weasley again, and he responded, “I think if the timing was right and everyone was coming back. It was a character that was important to me, we kind of became the same person. I’m protective of him as well. It was my whole childhood.”

For now, Tom is the only guaranteed cast member of the OG Harry Potter films that you’ll find on the Broadway stage in 2025 and 2026.
