A-Rod and J. Lo Seek Financing in Bid to Drive Mets Fans Insane

The couple are in talks with JPMorgan Chase, who may fund their bid to buy the MLB team

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez may be New York's greatest power couple.

At age 50, J. Lo continues to be one of the most highly-paid entertainers in the world after more than 20 years of fame, while Alex Rodriguez remains the highest-paid baseball player of all time—having earned nearly half a billion dollars in a career that lasted into his 40s. After going out into the world and making names for themselves (names exclusively comprised of their first initials plus the first syllables of their last names), they are bringing that massive wealth back to the city where they were born The Mets.

Now in Theaters: 5 New Movies for the Weekend of March 29

Go to the movies, don't be a Dumbo.

Welcome back to "Now in Theaters: 5 New Movies for the Weekend."

This week we have more live-action Disney and also Matthew McConaughey's bare ass.

Dumbo Official Trailer

Tim Burton's take on Disney's 1941 animated classic, Dumbo, looks...fine. Tim Burton's visual flair is certainly apparent, but that hasn't been enough to make his last few movies particularly interesting. There's some serious talent in the cast (Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito), but it's worrying that the trailer focuses on two generic, wide-eyed youths spewing schlock lines like, "You can do it, Dumbo!" I'm sure it's fine. Everything is fine. The world isn't on fire. Enjoy your live-action Disney reboot.

The Beach Bum

THE BEACH BUM Trailer # 2 (NEW 2018) Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey Movie HD

Matthew McConaughey plays Moondog, a prolific weed-smoker and sometimes poet who spends his days having sex and doing drugs in Florida. It's written and directed by Harmony Korine (Spring Breakers), so whether or not you enjoy The Beach Bum will probably come down to a few different factors. First, do you like Korine's distinct, hyper-colorful aesthetics and meandering plot lines usually full of unlikeable characters? Second, do you like Matthew McConaughey going all-out and showing his butt? And most importantly, are you very high?

A Vigilante

A VIGILANTE Official Trailer (2019) Olivia Wilde, Thriller Movie HD

A Vigilante follows Olivia Wilde in the role of a former domestic abuse victim-turned-vigilante who kills domestic abusers. But rather than dwelling on the violence, like most similarly conceived movies do, A Vigilante seems to focus more on the pain and darkness of Olivia Wilde's character. Wilde's performance is supposedly a real standout here, so if you're looking for a gritty, potentially upsetting denouncement of abusers this weekend, check this one out.

Screwball - Official Trailer

Screwball is a documentary about baseball. If you think that sounds boring, I did too until I watched the trailer. Damn, that's an entertaining trailer. Director Billy Corben (Cocaine Cowboys) recounts Major League Baseball's most notorious doping scandal in 2013, wrapping in star players like Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez. Many of the illegal activities seem to be rehashed by child actors dressed as adults, which sounds incredibly stupid but looks funny. If you have even a modicum of interest in sports or true crime, be sure to put this on your list.

Diane - Official Trailer I HD I IFC Films

Diane is an aging boomer who dedicates her time to helping others, thinking about her friends and trying to bond with her drug-addicted son (yes, that's Pete from The Office). But she's got some personal demons of her own to confront too, and she's not getting any younger. It's hard to tell exactly what the movie is about from the trailer, but it currently boasts a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, so if you're looking for a serious drama this weekend, keep it in mind.

Jennifer Lopez

All you need to know.

Full Name: Jennifer Lynn Lopez

Date of Birth: July 24, 1969

Born: Bronx, NY

Occupation: Singer, actress, dancer

Status: Single (divorced)

Children: 2

Jennifer Lopez. J.Lo. Jenny From the Block. No matter what you call the multi-talented 49-year-old, the woman behind the name is nothing short of amazing. She's hotter now than she was in her 20s, her "triple threat" talent is off the charts, and her ability to defy the seemingly impossible comes to her with an ease that's almost unheard of. She's gorgeous, glowing, and grounded, never letting her bounty of "bling" interfere with the Bronx girl that still lives in her heart. Here's more about Lopez and why she'll never go out of style.

Living It Up…In Living Color

We first got a glimpse of Lopez's dance moves when she was the flyest of Fly Girls on TV's In Living Color. The sketch comedy show featured mini dance segments, and the Fly Girls took modern dance to a whole new level. Lopez was young and ready to show the world she was ready to rock. In Living Color was only a launching pad towards what was to come.

Movie Star

Seeing Lopez light up the silver screen is one of her many gifts. Not only are Lopez's acting chops worth a round of applause, but her sheer presence on screen is spectacular. Whether it's a rom-com or a hard-hitting drama, Lopez's work always woos us to theaters. From her stellar job portraying Selena to her roles in various other blockbuster films over the years, Lopez never fails to impress and excite audiences. Well, perhaps we won't lump Gigli into the mix of otherwise praiseworthy performances.

Music to Our Ears

There's nothing like a J. Lo song to get us on our feet and feeling the rhythm. Hit after hit, Lopez's songs have the perfect pop quality that keeps her high on the charts. Songs like "On the Floor," "Let's Get Loud," "I'm Real," "Waiting for Tonight," and "Booty" give off a vibe of sexiness and strength, just like the singer herself. Her dance music is upbeat and lively, her Latin tunes dramatic and sensual, and her ballads beautiful. And don't get us started on the accompanying music videos. Let's just say they're on fire.

Lopez has two lovely children, a boy and a girl…and they're twins! Max and Emme are her kids with ex, singer Marc Anthony. With parents so talented, the world can't wait to see what becomes of these two lucky little ones. But Lopez, as rich as she may be now, knows that it takes hard work and dedication to make it to where she's landed. From what it seems, she's giving her kids a lot in life, but also instilling values that keep them from feeling entitled.

Love Again

Lopez has walked down the aisle three times, but in her case, three strikes landed her a baseball player. These days, Lopez is linked to Alex Rodriguez and their relationship seems to be a match made in heaven…at least by Hollywood standards. Married previously to Ojani Noa (1997-1998), Cris Judd (2001-2003), and Marc Anthony (2004-2014), Lopez hasn't given up on love. She and A-Rod are going strong, blending families, and proving that even the rich and famous want real love just like the rest of us.

Lopez's Looks

Age- and gravity-defying, Lopez looks better at nearly 50 than most women half her age. Her many looks have made headlines as she has shown off her enviable figure in many a couture creation. Here are some of the star's most spectacular style moments:

And the Video Vanguard Award Goes To… J. Lo, Naturally

The MTV Video Music Awards to Honor Jennifer Lopez August 20th

Jennifer Lopez must be the luckiest lady on the planet.

She is talented, beautiful (possibly ageless), rich, and smart, a mom of seemingly well-adjusted celeb kids, and dating one of the most desirable dudes in America. That would be "A-Rod" if you live under a rock. Just when you thought the triple-threat had it all, the kind folks at MTV felt she needed another feather in her (designer) cap.

So, later this month during the 2018 MTV VMAs, the very special Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award will be presented to Lopez, giving her prime time props of epic proportions thanks to her "contributions to the world of music videos." As MTV shared, "The Bronx native will be accepting her award and performing some of her greatest hits live!" Surely Mr. Rodriguez will be right there in the front row cheering on his main squeeze, and fans worldwide will be in frenzy when the always-amazing J. Lo does her thing for the live audience and those tuning in from their living rooms. And by the way, Lopez has not performed live at the VMAs since 2001, as per Time. She must have been waiting for just the right moment to hit the stage again, making '18 the pinnacle of her perfection.

Looking fresh in

The first Vanguard awards were given out at the first VMAs in '84. To honor the incomparable Michael Jackson, the award was renamed in '91. While we remember the artists who've claimed this coveted award, note that is also sometimes given to music video directors and creators who are behind the lens, making magic to go along with the music.

For a little MTV music history, the first awards were given to David Bowie, The Beatles, and Richard Lester (he was a director for short films for the Beatles). Skip to '86 when Madonna accepted the honor along with filmmaker Zbigniew Rybczyński. '88's star was the award's now-namesake, Michael Jackson, followed by George Michael in '89. Janet Jackson was '90's gal, joining her beloved bro with the honor. Jump to 2011 when pop princess Britney Spears was the wildly popular winner. Her ex, Justin Timberlake snapped it up two years later. Kim K.'s hubby, Kanye West stole the show in '15…too bad Taylor Swift wasn't inclined to steal his thunder. '16 saw Rihanna, '17, P!nk, and this year, J. Lo will take home the shiny statue. A deserving bunch with another hit-maker to add to the impressive list.

Lopez's latest song, "Dinero" is up for some awards too - "Best Collaboration" and "Best Latin Video." Even if she doesn't snag the prize for those, she still walks away the night's biggest winner. Something tells us Michael Jackson is smiling down on her from above.
