After 19 seasons, an explosive workplace scandal, and a loss of over a million viewers, Ellen announced today that she's finally calling it quits with her talk show.

With more than 3,000 episodes in the can, Ellen told the Hollywood Reporter that the show will end after the 2021/2022 season. "When you're a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged – and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, It's just not a challenge anymore," Ellen told THR on Wednesday.

In an report from Variety on Thursday, Crew members from The Ellen Degeneres Show spoke out about their treatment during the quarantine.

Their biggest complaint seemed to be with the lack of communication they had received from the show's producers, with little information given on whether they would keep their jobs and what would happen to their pay. For two weeks, from late March through early April, there was seemingly no contact at all, as production company Telepictures sorted out how they were going to resume operations given current restrictions—which included hiring an outside, non-union firm to perform various functions, many of which existing, unionized crew members could have handled from home.

Is Ellen DeGeneres "One of the Meanest People Alive?"

A recent Twitter thread paints a picture of someone much different than her public persona

In March comedian Kevin T. Porter tweeted out a message of charity or of petty nastiness—depending who you ask.

Loosely framing the thread as a fundraiser and awareness campaign for the LA Food Bank and for food banks in general, he claimed that Ellen is "notoriously one of the meanest people alive." Porter then promised to donate two dollars for every legitimate story about Ellen DeGeneres being mean. While the charity is obviously a good thing, the pretense that it was somehow connected to the amount of response that his tweet received seems a bit self-serving. By Sunday the thread had blown up so much that Porter was forced to concede that he had no way of verifying the stories, so he "rounded up to 300, and donated $600!
