This week, just in time for Earth Day, EarthX has returned to facilitate an array of powerful events about environmental devastation and the global fight against it.

The Dallas-based festival, which is America's largest annual environmental expo, was founded in 2011 by environmentalist and businessman Trammell S. Crow, who initially branded the festival "Earth Day Dallas." Since then, the event has grown exponentially, drawing thousands of attendees across the globe and utilizing everything from artificial intelligence and private investors' summits to competitions for young artists.

It's an example of just how effective collaboration between people of all walks of life can be, and a blueprint for the kind of interconnected movement we'll need to combat the climate crisis.

Percy Vs Goliath Pits a Local Farmer Against a Giant Corporation

One of EarthX's main events is the EarthXFilm festival, which this year is screening 14 films and a total of 33 features about climate change, environmental racism, sustainable farming, youth climate activism, and other efforts. The films will be screened over a 10-day period beginning on April 16, both in-person in outdoor venues and on the festival's streaming platform, EarthXTV.

Among this year's extraordinary selection of films is the world premiere of Clark Johnson's Percy Vs Goliath, a film that tells the true story of a farmer named Percy Schmeiser, who was sued by the alchemical corporation Monsanto after it accused him of using its patented genetically modified beans.

Schmeiser — whose farm had been growing its own crops for generations — engaged in a court case that eventually reached the Supreme Court and became a symbolic fight for farmers' rights against big business. Starring Christopher Walken as Percy, alongside Christina Ricci and Zach Braff, the film is one of the most highly anticipated titles among a slate of powerful offerings.

What is Music? How would you define it?

Music is everything.

Where did your interest in music stem from?

It's kind of always been there I think. I remember my mom telling me that when I could just barely walk I was standing in front of the TV with my diapers on busting out some moves.

What do you love about creating music?

I think it's all about actually creating something from scratch to begin with, which is just something special, and of course being creative, no boundaries, just going with anything that feels right at that moment. And that definitely is something I have my fans to thank for, they've always been very supportive of me trying out new stuff and that keeps it interesting, I'd not be able to focus on a too narrow of a sound for too long, it'd drive me crazy.

How would you sum up your music in two words?

Energetic grooves.

What feelings do you associate with your music?

Maternal feelings I guess haha.. Sounds so weird, but it really is, when you release a record, after having worked on it for hours and hours in the studio, then all of a sudden it's judgement time! That's when it really feels like your baby that you're all of a sudden throwing out into the wide world. What was your inspiration behind -- (choose two of your favorite songs)?

That is such a difficult question. Inspiration always comes from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Like for instance with Cinematic http://flg.dj/cinematic-ytwhich definitely is one of my personal favorites, it all started with an incredible demo from Denny White, that really was where I drew all my inspiration from. More recently with collabs like Flex http://feddelegrand.lnk.to/FLEX and Hit The Club http://feddelegrand.lnk.to/HitTheClub you also vibe a lot of the ideas that your collaborating partners throw at you which I feel is a lot of fun too.

Where can readers go to find out more about you?

What do you love most about performing at festivals?

The whole vibe is just so much fun! I really like summer a lot!!

Nobody knows how to close out the summer better than NYC thanks to the epic Electric Zoo Festival. The annual event is the mecca of electronic music festivals on the island and this year it is promising to be the biggest, wildest party it has ever thrown. Made Events and LiveStyle are not setting any kinds of limits for Electric Zoo: The Big 10 in celebration of its tenth year of melting our faces. As always, the party is taking place on Randall's Island during Labor Day Weekend.

The massive 3-day festival will feature performances from hundreds of DJs and producers encompassing a wide range of styles from deep house to dubstep. Headliners include heavy hitters like Tiesto, Alesso, Marshmello, Kaskade, Gramatik, AC Slater, Andrew Bayer, Chris Liebing and so many more. And, if you've ever been to Ezoo before, you already know the set designs and laser lights are going to be top-notch. The festival is already close to selling out - last year 90,000 fans (aka "animals") made it out to have the times of their lives.

Electric Zoo: The Big 10's theme will focus on celebrating the wild ride Electric Zoo has been on over the past 10 years, each of which has been nothing short of amazing. If there's an EZoo you can't miss it's this one. Honestly, nothing compares to that moment when you disembark from the 32nd street ferry and onto Randall's Island on day one. The music, the views and the crowd make it one magical event. We can't wait to see all you animals out there!
