New Zealand rebel turns loose a scorcher.
Born in New Zealand, and now based in Los Angeles, Kelsy Karter has cemented herself as an international star.
Her new music video for "Catch Me If You Can" reinforces her renegade attitude, and reveals her unique sound, one she describes as "blue-eyed rock n' roll." The song is the result of the alt-pop star isolating herself in a studio, where she worked on new music.
Kelsy says, "I want to be an artist that speaks to my generation. If you want a 50-year career then you have to be innovative and ahead of what's next. The drum patterns and guitar tones on my record definitely veer toward those early Beatles/Stones vibes, but my stories and ideas will always move and grow with me in the modern world."

"Catch Me If You Can" opens on a muscular groove and buff guitar riffs. Karter's wickedly lethal tones ride over the thrumming music, infusing it with tantalizing dark independence, like a bait-and-switch from come-hither to fuck-off.
"I ran away with only ten bucks in my pocket / And a twenty thousand ransom for my head / My baby said I didn't take it like you wanted / So I kissed him on the neck and shot him dead / He's such an artist how he'd paint a broken promise / Now he's laying on the floor covered in red / And if I'm honest you're the man to keep him modest / Yeah, he broke me so I had to get revenge."
The video blends visuals from Interview With The Vampire and Underworld, creating an opulent aura of impulsive, reckless force juxtaposed against cross-dressing indolence and Karter's intensity.
