Meet The Trainers Behind Aaptiv, My Favorite Audio Fitness App

Don't you love it when you're in a fitness class and you feel so in sync with the instructor that you're really able to push yourself? Having a good instructor can make or break a workout, and for me, there's no better feeling than an instructor pushing me to my limit. I used to expect that connection and motivation only from in-person training sessions, but all that changed when I discovered Aaptiv. Here's a rundown of Aaptiv's different coaching styles and my favorite trainers for each:

Fun & Supportive - "Be the best version of yourself."

I love mixing it up and trying different trainers, but I think the trainers I work out with most often fall in this category. That's not to say that the other trainers aren't fun or supportive, but this group helps me laugh and not take myself too seriously during a workout. I don't dread exercise when I know I'll be working along with a trainer who will cheer me on and guide the class with enthusiasm and energy.

Kelly - If you're motivated by a cheerleader style, Kelly is the trainer for you. She is peppy and energetic and always makes the workouts rewarding. She reminds you of how capable and strong you are and tells you to "Do it for someone who can't." Her classes range from indoor cycling and stair climber to treadmill and elliptical, and her personality pairs perfectly with her music choice: pop, hip hop, and EDM.

Jaime - Jaime may be the most patient personal trainer ever. She guides you through a class with her easy-going personality and generous, warm tone. Her music styles are more mood driven than beat driven, and I know I can count on her when I want a thoughtful routine. Her Macklemore-inspired elliptical class is one of my favorites! She also has meditation classes that I love to start my day with.

Benjamin - Quirky and direct, Benjamin is a trainer that expects you to bring your best self every time. He has a way of talking directly to you so it feels like he's right there next to you the entire time. He's really good at changing the energy throughout the class and always keeps me guessing. I love to lace up, plug in, and start an outdoor run with Benjamin.

Technical Style - "Every workout counts. It is about the effort you put in."

For newbies or people looking to improve their form across any exercise, the technical trainers are focused on communicating perfect form and helping you get the most effective workout possible. Whether you're concerned about injury or just want to be a better version of yourself while working out, these coaches help you focus on your form and the technical details of a workout.

Candice - She is laid-back and results-driven; Candice always keeps me focused on my goals. I'm not usually one to listen to country music, but Candice has some fun playlists that help the workout feel light and positive. I love running on the treadmill, using the stair climber and rowing along to her music. (If country isn't your jam, she also has awesome hip hop, classic rock, and alternative/indie playlists.)

Meghan - An Aaptiv community favorite, Meghan is one of the best technical trainers I've worked out with. She's really good about correcting my form where I wouldn't normally think to. During runs, she reminds me to stand up tall, hold my head over my hips, and keep my body weight landing on the balls of my feet. She's helped me improve my running form and has kinda become my "running guru." I even trained for my first 5K with Meghan's 5K Training Program! She keeps your running pace on beat with fun dance/electronic and hip hop.

Ackeem - Ackeem is one of the most popular trainers on Aaptiv right now, and for good reason! If you're looking for an upbeat class where you feel like you're hanging out with a friend, Ackeem is your guy. He mainly instructs treadmill, outdoor running, and strength training classes and is always uplifting and positive. He incorporates hip hop and dance/electronic music into his workouts and always keeps it cool.

High Intensity - "You gotta put in the hard work to get the results."

If you gravitate towards high-intensity training, Aaptiv has experienced trainers for you. These trainers help guide you through challenging stretches of the workout from start to finish. The playlists will keep you moving to the beat and get you into a rhythm while pushing you harder than you thought possible.

Rochelle - My go-to trainer when I need that extra push. Her high-energy and uplifting attitude helps get me through a challenging workout. She specializes in classes including treadmill, stair climber, outdoor running and rowing, and knows how to get me pumped up with her pop and dance/electronic playlists.

Jessica - Another of my high-intensity favorites. Jessica really makes me feel strong and empowered during my workouts and never lets me quit. She's energetic and playful and keeps things moving fast; the classes with Jessica always fly by. She also likes to crank up the energy with her heavy metal playlists - try her Lower Body Strength Training class to rock out to some serious metal.

Jade - Who said yoga can't be high intensity? Jade is an expert yogini and can guide you through all things yoga from a relaxing meditation to Vinyasa Flow and even Restorative Flow. For her high-intensity classes, she gets you in the flow with hip hop; for the Relaxation classes, she calms you down with Chill music vibes. Try her "Vitality Blend Vinyasa Flow" if you're looking for a little challenge.

No matter your mood or preferred workout style, Aaptiv has a trainer for you. Aaptiv understands that your personal goals are constantly evolving, and they reflect this in their trainers and the new classes being added each week.
