For more than 20 years, Chevelle has been one of the biggest bands in hard rock. Starting with their breakthrough album Wonder What’s Next, the Chicago trio has produced hits like “The Red,” “Send the Pain Below,” and “Face to the Floor.” Frontman Pete Loeffler has seen the music industry from all sides—from a shady record deal to playing the Main Stage at Ozzfest and touring with Korn.

The band’s 10th studio album, Bright as Blasphemy, arrived August 15. The lead single “Rabbit Hole (Cowards, Pt. 1)” has already become a fan favorite. Their current U.S. tour, with support from Asking Alexandria and Dead Poet Society, runs through Oct. 4.

In this episode of Jordan and Demi, Loeffler reflects on the band’s career, recording with Steve Albini, and what he’s learned about making music.
