The World Cup is coming to the North American continent for the first time in decades. This World Cup, a soccer tournament played between the world’s greatest nations, is set to be the biggest ever, with 48 teams from 7 continents across the world all travelling across the United States, Canada and Mexico in a month-long bid to win the FIFA World Cup trophy.

This tournament is set to have one of the widest variety of host cities ever, with 26 cities set to host at least one of the 104 games at the tournament. Here is your guide to follow along with the tournament, see if it’s coming to a city near you, and where the biggest games are going to take place.

Canadian fans have plenty of opportunities to see some games come to their cities, and if you’re a Canadian fan and find yourself asking ‘what’s the best sports betting app in my region?’, then check out Canada Sports Betting.

Canada

Canada has two host cities for the tournament. The first is BMO Field in Toronto, usually home to Toronto FC. BMO Field will host Canada’s first game at the World Cup as they take on Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12th.

The second host city in Canada is Vancouver, where games will be played at BC Place Vancouver. This stadium will even host some of the knockout matches, including one of the round of 16 games as the tournament begins to draw to its conclusion in July.

United States

The United States is hosting the most games, and also has the most host cities, boasting 11 different stadiums hosting games. The World Cup final in July will be played at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey, while the semi-finals will be played at AT&T Stadium in Dallas and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta respectively. All three stadiums will host other matches in earlier rounds of the tournament.

Other games will be played in every corner of the United States. Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium is billed to host the third place match, Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, Boston’s Gillette Stadium and Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, home of Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs, will all host quarter-finals. Lumen Field (Seattle), NRG Stadium (Houston), Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia) and Levi’s Stadium (San Francisco Bay Area) will all also host multiple matches, including knockout stage games.

Mexico

Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca has the honour of opening the 2026 World Cup, being the site of the first game, set to be played between Mexico and South Africa on June 11th. The Estadio BBVA in Monterrey will play host to the 1,000th ever World Cup game as Japan meet Tunisia in a group game. Then, Guadalajara’s Estadio Akron will play host to a couple of games, including one of Mexico’s group games.
