Surfbort Share New Single “Jessica’s Changed”
Surfbort today has shared their new single “Jessica’s Changed,” the latest track from their new LP Reality Star, due out March 6th via TODO Records. The swaying, anthemic track is accompanied by a Pooneh Ghana directed video. “This song is my way of romanticizing the chaos of a world that’s lost its mind,” frontwoman Dani Miller says. “The airways constantly blasting doom, corrupt politics, is there any room to live life? The song is also inspired by the nostalgia of running around New York at 19–that bittersweet mix of confusion and wonder, when everything was changing faster than I could keep up. Maybe I’m the one who’s gone mad? If so, I’ll say fuck it, lock my bedroom door, light a ciggy, and dance in the mirror like I’m the most beautiful thing alive, even when the world says otherwise. Oh and yeah, I actually dated the ghost of Kurt Cobain when I was 25. Had I gone mad? Yes! But was it because I failed with love, was lonely ,and thought it would be better to be taken by a ghost instead of a human? Also yes.”
Reality Star is the band’s first album since 2021’s Keep On Truckin, and will be their debut release on new label TODO Records. The LP channels the spirit of punk through every possible lens, from the frenetic energy of Black Flag and Dead Kennedys to the playful eccentricity of the B-52s and the grungy vulnerability of Nirvana. The album pulses with the electricity of Surfbort’s legendary live shows, loud, unrestrained, and joyfully rebellious. The album oozes fun and listeners are left with a feeling of youthful resilience.
The band’s third album strikes the perfect balance between life’s harsh realities and the delusional dream we all chase to make existence a little more bearable. It’s a record that celebrates contradiction, raw yet dreamy, chaotic yet deeply alive.
Dani Miller’s vocals are a force of nature: dynamic, unfiltered, and fiercely human. She moves effortlessly from brash, low-frequency punk poetry to airy, melodic pop-punk interludes, all tied together by that iconic Dani twang that’s instantly recognizable. The result is a sound that feels both modern and nostalgic, a reminder of when we had to romanticize our chaos just to keep going.
At its core, Reality Star is about finding light in the madness. It’s a rallying cry to laugh through the pain, to be a rebel in a world that keeps trying to bring you down, and to have a good time doing it. With pounding energetic drums, raucous guitars, and a contagious sense of unity from all the, Surfbort once again proves why no crowd is more alive than theirs, and Reality Star will only fan the flames higher.
The album was recorded by Adam Laidlaw, Riff Cuéllar, and Luis Flores Mixed by Adam Laidlaw and mastered by Riff Cuéllar atTthe Boat in Los Angeles 2025.

Surfbort Bio:
Originally emerging from Brooklyn’s punk scene, SURFBORT has proven that their cult-cool energy transcends coasts. Drawing inspiration from the raw power of 1980s punk, they create explosive, feedback-drenched anthems that reject the digital age’s intolerance and celebrate love, inclusion, and friendship. Everyone is welcome in the SURFBORT Freak Family.
The band has performed at Coachella and shared stages with Idles, Wolf Alice, The Garden, The Dickies, Martin Rev, Tijuana Panthers, Fat White Family, and Viagra Boys, among others. Their reputation for authenticity and chaos continues to earn praise from peers and critics alike:
“The high degree of authenticity that permeates every aspect of Surfbort’s work makes the band a distinguishable artistic entity. Live, Surfbort is akin to a stick of dynamite that self-ignites, producing a massive eruption that encapsulates the audience in the most incredible way. The band’s energy feels far from forced; it is raw to the point of being uncontrollably infectious.” – Amplify Magazine
“A machine-gun volley of two-minute shards of sound that pummel you into a giddy mess while flicking two fingers to authority.” – Crack Magazine
“The last (only) New York punk band.” – W Magazine
“The spirit of Bikini Kill, Pussy Galore, Patti Smith, and X.” – The Guardian
It’s no surprise that Julian Casablancas of The Strokes/The Voidz handpicked Surfbort for his label, Cult Records. Legendary rock producer Linda Perry signed them, releasing their album Keep On Truckin’ in October 2021 and now they join the hot, new TODO Records.
As Hollywood Life wrote:
“There probably isn’t a single word in the English language that describes this feeling that Surfbort captures on ‘Keep On Truckin’. It’s like smiling with a fat lip or winking with a black eye – the spirit of perseverance and finding happiness after a beating. This theme runs throughout the album, from ‘Life’s A Joke’ (‘Nothing’s going my way today, but it’s okay’) to the closer ‘Cheap Glue,’ where Dani vows to ‘do anything to help you find a solution’ to a friend’s broken heart.”
Their visual work is equally striking. The video for “FML” stars comedian Fred Armisen (bandleader/drummer for Late Night with Seth Meyers), who plays a do-gooder transforming into each band member to rescue them from depression. Pro skater Lizzie Armanto made her directorial debut and co-starred in the video for “Lot Lizard” (January 2022), while Tony Hawk was the star of the “Open Your Eyes” music video.
Frontwoman Dani Miller also appeared on GROUPLOVE’s track “Just What You Want,” and Surfbort performed in the 2019 Pre-Fall GUCCI campaign directed by Glen Luchford. Miller became the face of Gucci Beauty’s global launch, while drummer Sean Powell served as the inspiration for the lead character in the Academy Award–winning film Sound of Metal.
In July of 2025 it was announced that Surfbort has joined TODO records, and they will be releasing REALITY STAR, Surfbort’s THIRD studio album sometime in 2026.
Fun Facts: Surfbort was formed in 2014 by lead singer Dani Miller. The group got their name from the Beyoncé song “Drunk in Love”
