Gooseberry Unleash Grunge-Fueled New Single “Go Fish” Ahead of Sophomore Album Simple Sucker
Brooklyn-based trio Gooseberry channel alternative rock, indie, and blues into a sharp, swaggering sound that’s earned comparisons to The White Stripes and Arctic Monkeys. Following successful winter and spring tours and rising momentum — including 70K+ monthly listeners and major festival slots — the band now launches a new chapter with their sophomore LP, Simple Sucker, arriving September 25, 2026.
Today, the band shares “Go Fish,” a thunderous punk-rock banger packed with the hallmarks of a great rock song: crashing drums, thick guitar riffs, and lead singer Asa Daniels’ growling vocals. The result is a heavy, grunge-fueled collision of Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, and Black Sabbath.
“Go Fish is about realizing a few more years have got behind you than you remembered—i.e. turning 30 and finding out the hard way that your mind and your body operate differently than they did in the carefree days of your twenties,”Daniels explains.
“There’s still a burning fire, but the blaze has changed in color. Thinking too hard about the passage of time inevitably leads to thoughts of nostalgia and yearning for simpler times, like the perfect youth that your memory sanitizes as it drifts further from your present.“

Comprising of Asa Daniels (guitar, vocals), Evin Rossington (drums), and Will Hammond (bass), Gooseberry have become a staple of NYC’s music scene, headlining iconic venues like Bowery Ballroom, and supporting notable touring acts such as Ringo Starr, BabyJake, and Tanner Usrey.
In their new era, Simple Sucker, Gooseberry explores what it means to be the perfect fool in today’s world. As Daniels explains, “there are songs where we’re poking fun at people for being fools; fools in love; fools who think they can impart wisdom for change; fools ourselves, longing to return to days gone by.”
On Simple Sucker, Gooseberry explores what we perceive as foolish in others — bigotry, fear, arrogance, and obliviousness — delivering a collection of shout-along, irony-laced hooks that spotlight the absurdity of it all.
“Go Fish” is out June 5th. Simple Sucker is out September 25th, 2026.

Drums were recorded by Grammy-winner James ‘Jimmy T’ Meslin (Dream Theater, John Petrucci, Rush). Grammy-winning engineer Colin Bryson (Zach Bryan, J Balvin, Willow Avalon) served as producer and recording engineer (reprising his role from the Validate Me EP). Grammy-winner Phil Joly (The Strokes, Lana Del Rey, Daft Punk) mixed the record, and Jennica Best (Colatura) mastered it. Honorary fourth member Dan Janis (Baked Goods) provided saxophone and flute for a handful of tunes. The record has already been streamed 2.5M+ times and counting.
