Tenroc Steps Into the Spotlight With Soul-Stirring Debut Album God Is A Person
After years of shaping chart-topping records behind the scenes, Grammy-nominated producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Tenroc is finally telling his own story. With the release of his debut album, God Is A Person, the Queens native steps from the producer’s chair into center stage, delivering an intimate collection rooted in faith, purpose, and personal transformation.
For many music fans, Tenroc’s name may already be familiar from the credits. His production work has helped define hits for artists including Rihanna, the Jonas Brothers, Renee Rapp, Julia Michaels, Jon Bellion, and Jon Batiste, contributing to more than 3.6 billion streams worldwide. He also earned two Grammy nominations for his work on Batiste’s acclaimed World Music Radio. But God Is A Person marks a different chapter—one driven less by commercial ambition than by personal conviction.
Created and self-produced in his home studio in Queens, the album emerged after what Tenroc describes as a spiritual calling to release music under his own name.
“I’d never really wanted to be an artist and put out music under my own name, but I felt called to do so by God,” he explains. “I just trusted that He had a plan for me, and I dove into the album full-force.”
That sense of purpose resonates throughout the project, which blends contemporary gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and soulful pop into a sound that feels both modern and deeply personal.

Listeners have already been introduced to several standout tracks, including the uplifting “mourning 2 dancing,” which pairs Tenroc with Grammy-winning vocalist Tori Kelly and genre-blurring rapper Jon Keith, showcasing the collaborative spirit that runs throughout the record.
Rather than approaching faith through traditional gospel conventions, God Is A Person feels expansive and accessible. Its themes of hope, perseverance, and identity are wrapped in polished production and genre-crossing arrangements that reflect Tenroc’s extensive experience crafting music across pop, R&B, and hip-hop.
For an artist who has spent years helping others find their sound, God Is A Person is a compelling introduction to Tenroc’s own voice. It’s a debut that reflects not only his impressive musical résumé but also a willingness to embrace vulnerability, making for an album that feels as authentic as it is ambitious.
With God Is A Person now available, Tenroc’s transition from acclaimed hitmaker to front-and-center artist appears to be only just beginning.
