RISING STAR | BLVK IRIS Drops 'Naked'

BLVK IRIS goes in a new direction on 'Naked'

Inspired by his move from Copenhagen to New York City, BLVK IRIS takes his musical style in a new direction on "Naked," blending contemporary soul, R&B, and electronica with simmering synths.

According to BLVK IRIS, "The song has a lot of feelings that takes me back to 1990's R&B and pop, music I grew up with. But still it has this new and fresh approach to the production."

Featuring vocals from NYC's Micky Blue and Janelle Kroll, whose seductive tones imbue the tune with smooth, shimmering textures, the message of the song is collaborative girl power. "We felt that in our current American political climate it was really important that we contribute to the conversation of women supporting women."

Kroll was featured on BLVK IRIS' debut single, "Put It On," which received widespread media acclaim and hit the Top 3 on Hype Machine's Popular chart.

Surfacing synths open "Naked," followed by a measured muscular rhythm, as bright vocal accents burst overhead. Once Kroll and Blue enter, the tune assumes a creamy yet bubbling feel, with a restrained ebullient effluvium. The juxtaposition of the rising colors from the synths and the pulsing beat give the song layered depth on both the high and low registers.

Lush pigmented sonic textures complement the velvety vocal harmonies, as the two divas' sultry timbres intertwine deliciously. Aesthetically, "Naked" reflects elusive, tantalizing wisps of gossamer beauty riding on streaming, evolving hues.

The naked truth is "Naked" is excellent. Nuances of palpable energy effervesce infectiously, while scrumptious vocal harmonies infuse bright coruscations of luster.
