The super-talented Todd Helder is the new Dutch sensation delivering acts from Tomorrowland to his residency in Ushuaia Ibiza. He has gained support from the likes of Martin Garrix this summer.
Where did your interest in music stem from and at what age did you start producing?
My interest for music production began when I accidentally clicked on a video by Future music magazine, in the video Avicii produces a track from scratch. I started producing when I was 15 years old, at first it was more just playing around but then I entered a remix competition for Marshmello's 'Alone' and after winning the contest I started to take it a lot more seriously.
You've released a lot of your productions on Martin Garrix's STMPD, how has it been to have such an influential label supporting you?
I am very grateful that I can release my music on STMPD RCRDS, the team behind STMPD are super awesome and such nice guys!
What was your main inspiration behind your recent Trap Nation single 'Pixel Love'?
I think the biggest inspiration for 'Pixel Love' was Louis the Child, the way they use sounds and combine/incorporate things together inspired me so much when I was making the track.
You've just released your new single 'Smile,' talk us through your production process?
'Smile' was mostly inspired by computer games, I started this track with the melody which you can hear in the break and I'm super happy with how the track turned out!
You recently performed at Tomorrrowland for the first time, what did you love most about the experience?
It was my first time ever at Tomorrowland and performing there felt like a dream come true. The people are super nice and I love the happy and chill vibes; such a sense of music bringing people together.
What has it been like to support Martin Garrix at such an iconic venue as Ushuaïa Ibiza?
Ushuaïa Ibiza was the one that really did it for me. The fact that I got to play on the same stage as some of the most iconic musicians of all time was surreal. It was also one of my favorite sets that I've ever put together so yea Ushuaïa Ibiza is definitely my favorite show to date.
You have achieved a lot in a very short space of time, what's the next big goal for you and your music?
I'm really grateful for all the support I've been getting and with how things are going. I'd love to do some collaborations at some point. I believe working with different artists and genres can only improve your creativity because everyone brings something unique and different to the table. I'm currently working on my album at the moment so watch this space!
