Mychael Gabriel, the godson of Sheila E. and Prince, launches his first solo release on Popdust, "Ghost in the Midnight."

The son of Prince's manager, Gilbert Davidson, Mychael grew up in Paisley Park while listening to and watching Prince lay down tracks for Purple Rain, Love Sexy, and Diamonds and Pearls. Breathing air laced with genius instilled in him a passion for music. Later, he became Sheila E's collaborator and lead guitarist.

The video for "Ghost in the Midnight" showcases Mychael's charisma and edgy fashion sense, along with his uncanny sense of rhythm, dazzling sonic textures, and seductively raspy voice. He's worked with George Clinton, Joss Stone, Earth Wind and Fire, and George Benson. Now, he's cutting loose with his own distinctive pop-funk sound, vaguely reminiscent of Prince but embellished with Mychael's personal style and flair.
