Illusionist, Magician, and Purveyor of Mystery, Ryan Oakes has been a leading force in the magic scene for over 20 years since becoming the youngest winner of the Society of American Magician's National Magic Competition.
Admittedly, I am not familiar with the Society of American Magicians and I had never heard of Ryan until a few days ago when I found out he is performing at the Fresh Art Annual Benefit. Fresh Art is a NYC charity that creates artistic and personal development opportunities disadvantaged and undeserved adults. Driven by the fundamental belief that everyone deserves recognition for their cultural and artistic contributions to society, Fresh Art hosts exhibits and workshops that serve over 800 special needs artists from thirty social service agencies.
On Tuesday, May 8th Fresh Art's Annual Benefit, "Art Is Magic" will feature performances by Ryan Oakes as well as exhibits by their associated artists at the The Curator Gallery. I did not hesitate to order my tickets and you shouldn't either!
