Jessie Altman Builds Momentum With New Single “For The Hell Of It” Ahead of Lovelight Album Release
Singer-songwriter Jessie Altman continues to build momentum with the release of her new single, “For The Hell Of It,” released on July 17, offering another glimpse into her highly anticipated sophomore album, Lovelight, arriving September 25.
Co-written by Altman alongside hitmakers Sam Hollander and Grant Michaels, “For The Hell Of It” captures the exhilaration of embracing the unknown, choosing joy over fear, and following your heart without hesitation. The infectious single represents the album’s most confident and spontaneous chapter, celebrating the kind of love that arrives unexpectedly and changes everything.
“‘For The Hell Of It’ is about the thrill of doing something simply because it feels right,” Altman shared. “Not overthinking it, not analyzing it, just jumping into the moment. It’s a little reckless, a little playful, and a little seductive. Sometimes the best reason to fall in love is no reason at all.”

The release followed June’s “Barcelona,” Altman’s strongest U.S. first-week streaming debut to date. Inspired by the restaurant where she shared her first date with her now-husband, the heartfelt single introduced listeners to the romantic storytelling that defines Lovelight. Together, “Barcelona” and “For The Hell Of It” showcase Altman’s evolution as both a songwriter and storyteller, blending emotional honesty with polished pop sensibilities and offering an exciting preview of what promises to be her most cohesive project to date.
Since the release of her debut album Aftermath and her 2026 EP Sleepwalking, produced by GRAMMY Award winner Jason Lehning and mixed by GRAMMY Award-winning engineer Craig Alvin, Altman has steadily established herself as one of today’s most promising emerging singer-songwriters, with her music surpassing one million global streams, earned placement on Apple Music and Pandora editorial playlists, and received praise from outlets including People, Forbes, Entertainment Tonight, SPIN, Parade, Flaunt, Galore, Grazia, LadyGunn, Page Six, Us Weekly, and OK!.
This summer, she is bringing her new music to audiences with performances at Songbyrd Music House in Washington, D.C., benefiting Volunteer Legal Advocates, New York City’s legendary Bitter End, and Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts in Westport, Connecticut.

Joining Altman on stage was an acclaimed touring band featuring guitarist Michael “Fish” Herring (Prince, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, New Kids on the Block), guitarist Mat Dauzat (Seal, Kelly Osbourne), bassist Larry “Flex” Williams (Christina Aguilera), keyboardist Alex Burke (Save Ferris, Billy Ray Cyrus), and drummer Dylan Elise (Blood, Sweat & Tears), adding another dimension to her emotionally driven performances.
With “Barcelona” and “For The Hell Of It” continuing to generate excitement ahead of Lovelight, Altman appears to be entering her most exciting creative chapter yet. The two singles highlight an artist growing more confident in her songwriting while embracing vulnerability, optimism, and authentic storytelling. If they’re any indication of what’s to come, Lovelight is poised to further elevate Altman’s career and solidify her reputation as one of music’s most compelling emerging voices, making her an artist to watch in 2026.
