REVIEW | Beca: "In Deep Love" Is Dripping With Delicious Energy

"In Deep Love" is the name of Beca's latest music video and her recently dropped EP. The confluence of events bringing the song to fruition resembles something from Homeric literature. Ensconced in the cloistered halls of The Juilliard School, Beca focused on voice, piano and music composition. Feeling bound by her context, she found release in electronic dance music. Releasing two EPs on the U.K. labelThis Is Music Ltd, she was surrounded by heavyweights, like Findlay Brown, Morgan Wiley, Madeaux and Ashley Beedle.
Then the god of heartbreak entered and, with Himeros-like energy, tore Beca's heart in two. Packing her belongings, she left for SoCal, moving to Los Angeles "with a mission, half a heart, and nothing left to lose."
Stylistically, Beca's music combines the scorching incandescence of EDM with the sweltering sultry hues of buffed up electro pop, resulting in a posh unique sound.
"In Deep Love" opens with a crisp, pulsing groove and reverberating vocals flowing into a swanky electro pop melody rife with EDM nuances. The galloping rhythm throbs with infectious dynamism as emerging harmonic colors from the synths provide streams of glistening tones. Shimmering, keening accents imbue the melody with embedded lozenges of electricity surging with simmering textures. As the music evolves it culminates in a radiantly iridescent emanation of stuttering synths and glossy vocals.
Beca's intoxicating voice secures the song, exuding a Siren-like essence shot through with proximate flavors of sensuality and translucent timbres suggesting cascading parallel mazes of sonic sonority,magnetic and fiercely concentrated. It's a delicious voice, stylish and polished, yet voluptuous.
The lyrics project an overriding commitment to the release of overwhelming love even though the very idea is unbearable.

The video, directed by Jayson Martinovich, juxtaposes fantastic images of Beca caparisoned in cherry red with the gold-painted visage of the last of the Ptolemaic dynasty, Cleopatra, as well as the flowing white-clad figure of dancer Kyle Thomas Shea, as he moves to the emotion of the music. The austere,yet powerfully aesthetic brio of the video presents a mesmerizing potency.
"In Deep Love" exudes an aura of scrumptious energy. The melody emanates a pulsating irresistible dance vibe, while the rhythm moves with palpable momentum. And Beca's rich, clear tones add luxurious coloration. Beca has it going on. "In Deep Love" is yazum.
