From Famous Fans to Tremendous Touring Partners

"We need more women out there playing guitar, bass, and drums and it's happening!!"

Women are killing it in the music industry, and song lovers couldn't be happier! In our column, #WomenCrushWednesday, each week, we'll feature an awesome lady whose tunes are blowing up our playlists and ask them about their musical journey.

There's a reason your favorite pop stars love Hailey Knox. She's been involved with playing music since she was a kid and came through the ranks on social media. Her soul-filled songs that embody the things we all feel have gained a massive fan base, and she's working on even more of them to share in the near future. For now, she speaks to us about her humble beginnings, her latest single, and more!

How did you become interested in music?

I started out watching the Disney Channel (Hannah Montana, Ally and AJ) and my parents encouraged my sister and I to listen to all types of music. My dad taught me guitar by the age of 8 and I played at a bunch of charity events and small coffee houses.

Which artists have most greatly inspired your sound?

From Justin Bieber to Allen Stone to Beyoncé and a lot of old school artists like Lauren Hill and the Beatles.

Meghan Trainor has said she's a fan of yours. How does that feel?

Surreal. I've noticed that she is a huge supporter of up and coming artists which is awesome. It's so cool that she happened to see one of my covers and loved it. Thank you Meghan!

Your fame largely emerged thanks to social media platforms, but how do you feel about the way these outlets have influenced young adults today?

Live-streaming is definitely a great way to interact with fans and friends. The amount of people you can reach from your living room is incredible and you can take requests and literally chat with your fans and family from around the world.

What has your experience been as a woman in the music industry?

One of my favorite things about performing is when a little girl walks up to me after a show and I have inspired them to pick up a guitar and for me it was the same. We need more women out there playing guitar, bass, and drums and it's happening!!

One of your latest songs, "Don't Got One" advocates for realness. What does that mean to you?

"Don't Got One" tells a story about how today, with social media, everything seems perfect but nobody really has 50,000 friends. It's important to appreciate the real, true friends that you have and not to get caught up envying what seems to be perfect Instagram photos.

You've toured with Charlie Puth and AJR. What were those experiences like?

Both tours were awesome. The AJR brothers are such incredible musicians who literally write, produce, and perform all of their songs and they are all just awesome dudes! Charlie was amazing and I will forever be incredibly grateful to him for having me on tour with him. His whole team treated me wonderfully.

Have you any plans to release an EP or an album in the near future?

Yes! I am currently working on new music as we speak 🤭

What is coming up next for you?

New music, hopefully some more fun collaborations and some pop up shows. Can't wait to see everyone!!!
