The singer's latest video alternately evokes Bessie Smith and Vogue-era Madonna.
Following the release of her three-track EP The Last Time earlier this month, Billie Black has unveiled the video for its title track.
Cutting between black and white footage of Black singing alone in spotlight on a smokey stage and dancing, awash in muted tones in front of a satin curtain, the video alternately evokes Bessie Smith and Vogue-era Madonna. It's a fitting pastiche for an artist who regularly combines jazz, R&B, and electronica.
