From Comedy to Comic Books…

Actress Kaley Cuoco to be DC Comics' new Harley Quinn

Welcome to the DC Universe, Kaley Cuoco!

Fans can't get enough of the bubbly blonde on television's hit comedy The Big Bang Theory, and now their fix of Kaley Cuoco won't get cut off when CBS pulls the plug on the long-running show after this final season comes to a close. News is out that the beloved actress will take on the role of DC Comics' Harley Quinn, announced in conjunction with the kick-off of Comic Con in NYC.

As per Too Fab, "Cuoco made the announcement on Wednesday night during New York Comic Con, complete with a promotional video featuring her debut as the character in the animated series slated for the DC Universe streaming service." The show will premiere in 2019.

Keep in mind, this will be an animated show, so Cuoco will be voicing the character of the villainess, as USA Today notes. And this character will be a far cry from her Big Bang role as Penny. "This has been the edgiest, darkest thing I think I've ever done in my career. I have cussed and screamed more than I think I ever have, and it has been a fricking blast. It's very freeing," Cuoco tells USA Today. After 12 seasons playing Penny, the "end of an era" may be bittersweet, but doing a complete 180 and tackling Harley Quinn will surely be a refreshing change of pace for the A-list actress.

More to love about Cuoco? Not only will she voice this DC Universe "femme fatale," but she is an executive producer for the show too. No wonder CBS paid the star the big bucks! She's a true talent, ready to explore new TV territory and make a name for herself in many facets of the biz. Whether it's comedy or comics, Cuoco will shine, both in front of and behind the camera.

Along with Cuoco, some other recognizable names are on board as cast members of the upcoming Harley Quinn. According to E! News, "The cast also includes Children's Hospital veteran Lake Bell, Firefly's Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches of Powerless, Curb Your Enthusiasm star JB Smoove, Jason Alexander of Seinfeld fame, black-ish's Wanda Sykes, Giancarlo Esposito from Breaking Bad, Bojack Horseman veteran Natalie Morales, Community's Jim Rash, Diedrich Bader from American Housewife, Veep's Tony Hale, and Chris Meloni from Happy! and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." Star-studded and sure-to-be spectacular, 2019 can't come soon enough.

Here's a sneak peak of what to expect from Cuoco and the rest of the cast:
