Popdust Presents

Mama Juke Brings the Soul

A blue grass band from Brooklyn.

On this week's Popdust presents, Brent wears an unfortunate backwards hat, Mama Juke delivers some incredible harmonies, and the Magic Box makes everyone uncomfortable once again.

Mama Juke is a soulful, blue grass band with jazzy vibes. The group is led by Elijah Bridges who brings in soulful harmonica, acoustic guitar, and vocals. Amos Rose is a world traveling multi-instrumentalist who also sings and plays lead Telecaster guitar, and was recently featured by Jazz at Lincoln Center. Pete O'Neill is an in-demand session musician, and bassist recently featured in the New York Times. Drummer Jon Wert is a sought-after musician in the NYC rock and jazz scene. Together, the group brings a retro bluegrass sound that thrills audiences across the country.

In their interview with Brent, the band talks jazz hats, Hobbit music, and not thinking twice.

After Brent reveals that he was conceived and born in a Buick, the band debuted their song, "Somewhere", from their upcoming new album.

Then, Brent subjects the unsuspecting band to perhaps his worst joke ever, describing Jude Law as one half of "the famous show law and order." This was of course met with a stunned silence, but the members of Mama Juke recovered admirably.
