Popdust Exclusive Premiere of Scruffy Pearls New Music Video 'Letting Loose'

The NYC based soul-funk band release a video full of energy and bright colors.

Soul-pop band, Scruffy Pearls, began with two couples from New York City meeting up to jam on Sunday nights. Soon after, they completed their multi-genre group with the addition of two of their friends on bass and trumpet. They expect to release their first full length album in Summer of 2019.

Their latest single, "Letting Loose," is a retro-funk number with new wave vibes, similar to Bruno Mars' most recent music. The lyrics are a declaration of freedom from the constraints of the monotony of daily life, and the song positions itself as an anthem of empowerment. The music video is composed of a series of shots in iconic places all around NYC, featuring band-member Carly donning new outfits in every new location.

The band said about the video, "The making of the video actually felt like a social experiment. Getting up and dancing like no one is watching in a public place where EVERYONE is watching was really liberating. You get a high from the freedom you feel in letting go of insecurities and social norms. It's so empowering, and we hope this tune leaves people feeling empowered and ready to go after what they want!"
